Didn't Hughton play a massive part in why Ben Arfa wanted to come though?

Watching it now, there's no way Ranger gets a touch on it. It either just braces Skrtels shin, or it goes straight through to Barton. I also find it amusing how little Lucas seems to care that he's just been raped in that challenge with Carroll.
-
Think both are clear assists. For Sherlas, he clearly intended to hit the bar and for it to bounce straight back out to Ameobi, and he's the last player to touch the ball before it ends up with Barton, isn't he? Skrtel might get a touch, but that's a definite assist in my book.

Fucking hell, I miss watching him play so very much. He'd easily bring us ten more points during the course of a season if he was fit to play in all games.

Villa has scored the same amount as Carroll this season, playing for fucking Barcelona and having played more games. Then we've got the age difference, the fact that Carroll is a local lad, that he's used to the tempo of the Premier League and that we haven't got anyone who could play the through balls (bar Barton on occasion) for Villa that he'd need. That last bit is essential for me when comparing the two, Villa is a master of timing his runs and finding space, but that won't do you much good unless you've got the players who can see this. Still, this is not me saying Carroll is a better striker than Villa, but rather that he's better suited for us.

He's not been given assists for Sherlas and Bartons?

"Raul and Lucas - Back up the play". What the fuck does that mean?
-
That was so fucking daft from Essien, especially considering how similar it was to what he was sent off for. How he wasn't even booked I'll never know.

Shurla was offside. Right. Still, why not count Sholas shot? Blocked shot, perhaps? Then their goal shouldn't have counted as an attempt.

Larsson as a holding midfielder? No, that is Tiote. I haven't seen much of Larsson, but most people seem to rate him and he could be realistic. I put him in the centre as a cm rather than a dcm. The main reason being that Barton has done well on the right. But Larsson is a wide player. His main attribute is a very good right foot, he'd be massively wasted in a central position. If Barton keeps performing the way he has, we really don't need another RM.

Just noticed on thing when watching it again. In the 54th minute, ESPN shows the attempts as Newcastle 1 and Liverpool 12 and attempts on target as Newcastle 1 and Liverpool 5. Did they just completely forget about Ameobis deflected shot that ended up just outside the post as well as Carrolls shot after he got the ball back from Ameobi?

So he doesn't have to live with Nolan any more? Shame, cause he's been on fire since moving there

Andy Woodman, is that Andy Carroll's alias?
-
Think it was Wullie who said it, let's make sure we're in a winning position then get Smith on with one sole intention. Smith would be forgiven for being an utter disgrace to the shirt if he fucks de Jong up.

Albrighton looks excellent. It was his cross Downing scored from yesterday, wasn't it? Really terrific move that was.

Better ratio than David Villa.

Brilliant  -
This is the lad who supposedly was not injured but refused to play for Hughton?
-
He's certainly improved since first being introduced to Premier League football. Would be a pisstake if Harper came back in.

Routledge is struggling enough on his stronger side, I don't think he'd fare any better playing on the left. He's got a decent shot on him though for when he's cutting inside. It'd be worth it for a couple of games anyway to give Jonas a break and tell him he's not an automatic starter.
