To be fair to Smith, he was actually decent for quite a few games where he played DM for us in the prem as well. He was mostly used as a CM or striker though, but I think he could still do a job in a three man midfield in the premiership should we get promoted. He'll no doubt be missed today, but as has been said, a midfield of Butt, Guthrie, Barton and Taylor should be plenty good enough to beat Blackpool.

Probably a wise move. I blame my possibly poor betting on being in a hurry this morning as I thought I wouldn't be home until after kick off. To be honest, I don't like betting on away teams at all in the Champions League, as getting a point away from home is usually not too bad for most teams.

Yeah all your hockey players in the NHL & soon all your best youngsters heading to English clubs. Couldn't give a fuck about "our youngsters", the Swedish league has been shite for a long time, this won't change the quality of our league much. I just want to see the quality of the players in the PL to be as good as possible, it really shouldn't matter where they come from or where they've been taught. It's a rather racist rule, IMHO.

As much as I hate Butt and think he's fucking useless, that midfield should still be the best in the league.

Disagree for the simple reason that playing Lövenkrands on the wing would keep Butt out of the team.
