Power (and shooting in general) is all about technique and not speed or strength, see goal-kicks for a prime example of using technique to strike the ball hard. It has nothing to do with strength or speed. Balance/body posture is also a major factor, although body posture comes under technique. It's not all about technique, though you certainly don't have to be powerful to have a powerful shot. In the same way, you don't have to have excellent technique to be able to blast it, I'd say our very own Martins is proof of that. He just twats the ball as hard as he can, and that's where he gets his power from.

Agree with this. I think that the club would have responded better had he waited until the summer. It would have shown more loyalty to have stayed and fought with us to keep us up. I think the money swayed it to be honest. Had he gone to Arsenal I could have bought his "moving for a chance of success" line, however Man Citeh are no better than we are, as the result at Stoke showed. If you can't see that Man City are a far better prospect and will have more chances of winning things in the next few years than us then you need to take your blinkers off. Sorry, but it's way too soon to think about this. I know that it's hard for us Toon fans not to have to think about who the next manager is going to be, but as long as Kinnear is in charge, I'd rather not have this debate.

All that matters for me. You'd want Shearer? Can you really blame us for wanting Shearer? Local hero, motivated, honest, should have the players respect and, most importantly, not Joe f***ing Kinnear. Wasn't blaming you, of course it makes sense looking at it that way, it's just my opinion that I can't see it working out, at the present time. He just has to be better than Kinnear, which would mean keeping us up fairly comfortably. Most of us would see that as a successful start. And should we be relegated under him, we will all just blame it on Kinnear/Ashley anyway, and he'd still be given a chance in the Championship. I can also see a lot more players wanting to stay should the worst happen if Alan was in charge rather than Joe.

All that matters for me. You'd want Shearer? Can you really blame us for wanting Shearer? Local hero, motivated, honest, should have the players respect and, most importantly, not Joe fucking Kinnear.
