i just pictured you two in the same room, madras asking that question and then you saying exactly the same thing after him
-
assuming he does join, what reason do we think he's chosen us over everton?

That seems a decent deal. Is Nolan being too greedy? i think he's looking our for his family as much as wanting first team football, caulkin mentioned him wanting security in terms of sending the kids to school and staying settled in an area. if this is the case it would make sense that he's pushed for a new contract now. if that were all true does anyone think the club are in the wrong now ? can't really offer an opinion until i see the state of our squad on the first day of the season
-
ahh shit yeah he's 29 isnt he

Judging by Wiki, seems similar to Tiote... He primarily plays as a combative defensive midfielder often occupying a withdrawn position as a deep-lying playmaker and is described as a "fierce and strong tackler". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blaise_Matuidi interesting, we'd certainly not be lacking in steel with both of them then
-
who's this matuidi fella then? highly rated? i've seen his name on here but no idea what sort of player he is
-
Exactly. are you lot fucking serious? you can't attribute views as generally as this with any authority, find quotes of people complaining about him for the majority of the season and then quotes of them complaining he's gone and you'll have a point, other wise this sort of stuff is pissing in the wind nonsense. i'll judge this sale at the end of the transfer window but my gut feeling is it's not wise, we have a board that's seemingly happy finishing top ten every year while straining so hard to pay as little as possible. ashley doesnt give a fuck where we finish as long as it's not relegation and we consistently acquire players for less than their actually worth, it's like some weird obsession.
-
be interested to know the last time he saw him play like, especially up front where he'll probably end up playing him.
-
obsessed by getting something for less than it's worth

would you rather we didnt sell carrol and didnt buy anyone? or sell carrol and replace with Cabaye, Ba, Erdinc, Taylot, and a few others? there is another alternative, contrary to what you've been told
-
i have to agree to not knowing about Dong ( ) but transfers such as gibson and ngog dont really seem like upgrades on what they have?
-
i agree too. if only his taking the piss radar was more finely tuned http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/45057000/jpg/_45057360_kinnear_pa416.jpg

If he's a grafter then thats good enough for me, it was quite painful watching Shola wander about doing nothing forever.
-
Aye it would be a great summer tbh, the greedy sod in me still wants a 'top class' striker in though. we all do. perhaps though with ben arfa, cabaye, barton, jonas and maybe n'zogbia we'll have enough service to give ba and erdinc a million chances a game
-
reasonably optimistic but i expect it'll take a while for the team to settle, let's not forget ben arfa's likely to take a while to settle as well. wouldnt be surprised if half the new recruits start from the bench

Aston Villa appoint Alex McLeish as new manager

Its weird, like someone else pointed out earlier, its like when we signed Souness. Now we are on the outside looking in on a really really slow crash happening at Villa. indeed. it's been quite a remarkable fall from grace really after they looked promising under o'neill. still, they needlessly revelled in our relegation so big fat hairy bollocks to them. -
one thing's for sure, there's a LOT of new players in those line ups, expecting a topsy turvy first half to the season
-
sounds like hard bargaining from our lot, hope it works. reading between the lines, looks like he prefers us but we're playing hard ball over the agents fees and they've set up everton as an alternative to try and make us pay up. not sure it'll work though as i get the feeling ashley wants us to have a reputation for not bowing to things like agents fees. Probably one of the few situations where Ashley holds the moral highground. possibly, i'm not altogether sure morals have anything to do with it though

any updates on this? i'm quite interested in it for some reason -
Try selling that to Sunderland fans! it worked for us!
-
sounds like it might take them a while to do that, even more incentive to get in early on n'zogbia. what they need is a relegation to clear the decks
