give him a new contract, since he's been up to full fitness he's been head and shoulders above all our other attacking players, a few missed chances but he's still scoring and at the end of the day thats what counts edit - i accept he's not getting any younger but with the sharp end of his pace now gone anyway, what do we have to worry about apart from injuries? fair enough its a concern but he's had a good run of games recently and it seems like he might have finally turned a corner. also with his proven ability at playing the deeper role we know he's a LOT more adaptable than some would have you believe i just dont think a club in our position should be wanting to offload a player as good as him, doesnt make sense to me

the only person on hallucinogens in this thread is the guy who WANTS Taylor to be in the starting line up next season, jesus wept
-
well i WAS ok until i started reading this thread, all you nervous folk are affecting me, that said i think we'll win, but not very comfortably
-
i dont mind the people who sit and watch, applaud when things go right, have a bit of a whinge when things go wrong. its the cunts who turn up with faces like shite, never praise anything, arms crossed just waiting for something to moan about, and then the inevitable half and full time boooing crew that need to fuck off
-
he'll still have the skills, and if a bit of the pressure is taken off him by the new structure doing its job, and he's given good backing, i think he'll do very well for us, simple as that really
-
so we still dont know what he said?
-
What ever resources we had were pissed and sqaundered away by the previous regime. ssshhhhhhhh, not today
-
looking at the recent form of both teams this one's got draw written all over it, which means we'll probably lose, unless the lads find some heart from somewhere
-
what did owen say then?

Dr Venkman replied to Thespence's topic in Football
save it sam, you were responsible for bringing us smith, barton and rozenhal, and you gave nicky butt a new contract, these things alone make you a twat, regardless of the football we had to watch -
damn it i wish i wasnt busy, i'd go to this
-
in my experience i told you so is the only reason most people post here
-
while i feel your frustration at having to watch smith play in black n white, since kk came back, viduka's not been fit, martins was away and then had an ankle problem, ameobi's probably just as bad and carrol doesnt have the experience, the only one of those four i'd put in would be carrol but i can see why kk hasnt
-
out of our ten games, i count 7 that we're capable of getting something from, i know that sounds generous, but i'm only saying capable, we have started to look better, owen looks very sharp, viduka and emre should be available soon, we're ok at the back apart from taylor, (apart from finishing but its not like thats a long term concern, i'm just happy he can run again) and if we can get some sort of coherence at the back i think we can get a few results i dont think we'll go down but i'm worried like everyone else
-
you can tell we're in trouble, you lot are sniping more than usual
-
The club's still in business, at least. Aren't things just great since they left wahey!
-
keep him on a reasonable contract, no more than a squad player of his age deserves, bring in someone else to play instead of him as he's clearly not good enough
-
Yeah, I think thats one of the main reasons for offering him a new deal to be honest. Remember Mort saying (when they took over) that they would enusre that no future contracts would have get-out clauses - and while Owen's appears to have disappeared, Martins was probably still very active. i'd be more tempted to call it 'dormant' than active, to be fair
-
seems weird, given the situations of both teams, maybe they think we'll be out of it by then
-
Why would he have to drop a decent player? Because he has to drop one of Duff, Milner, and Zog? Not the most difficult of decisions. seems pretty hard to me Put it this way: I'd give Duff away for nothing tomorrow if there was a club stupid enough to take him. I think Duffs been pretty much our only half decent player during these times. Actually trying to do something. Exactly. I alreay began to wonder if it is just me... :-( sorry lads, i cant see it, duff's looked woefully blunt, interested definitely, but smith looks interested too. he now knows he cant go past people and he's taken to just turning round and passing backwards, and when he does decide to put a cross in its never a good one
-
i think we should spend big on a new keeper in the close season, its been a while since we could rely on given to save us quite a lot, we could really do with having that back again
-
as long as we dont go down, ok, if butt and duff play next season i'm hanging myself, and thats not a joke
-
thats great, nice one
