How do these reporters work out who he was there to see? 22+ players out there and he was there to watch the worst player on show who plays in one the positions we're strongest? Can't see it. We already have Barton, Dabo, Ireland and at a push Richards. Hamann is shot IMO so he could have given up on him and be looking for a replacement for him. Unlikely so soon after signing but there is a chance e could be looking for a replacement for Reyna who I believe is off home soon. But there are other areas of the squad that are much, much weaker - If he was there looking at a Newcastle player to bring in I would guess it was Milner - We're shocking out wide - Sinclair is finished, Beasley makes Dyer look like Lazurus and Trabelsi will need to move back if Distin goes. You were willing(ish) to sell a few months back so could be again if funds needed in January? It would make a lot more sense to me.

I'd have Zannetti ahead of Neville, and perhaps Bergomi of Inter as well How about Lilian Thuram. He was pretty useful at international level even if he didn't always play at full back for Juve.

blueconfused.gif "One swallow does not a summer make" PS: He might have been shite when he got injured, but that was in comparison to the players around him then. eg. Bellamy. The players around him now are not the same standard eg. Sibierski. Could see the difference when you played us, the threat level of the attacking play went thru the roof.
  5. Ah well. I gather Oliver has been fairly certain of a few "done deals" in the past (Was it Brett Emerton?). I'm still hopeful he'll be staying. I'd much rather keep him for half a season than lose him for a pittance. And it wasn't that long ago that at a similar talk Pearce said he won't be shifting him in January and I think he is a more reliable source.
  6. Don't know who that is but it isn't Distin - He's only 6'3 bluebiggrin.gif
  7. Story on one of the City blogs this morning: bluebiggrin.gif I'm really proud of Richards - I thought all things considered (Debut, up against their best player, exposed to 1 on 1 by lack of midfield width in formation) he did really well. But yet again Lampard and Carrick are total passengers. Lampard coming too deep looking for the ball, totally nullifying Carrick's limited influence. How long before "Lampard and Carrick can't play together" becomes the national opinion? And the everlasting cycle of players forced to try and babysit for him continues. Lampard out please! :wullie:
  8. Claudio Reyna? blink.gif 100% true. I wouldn't be contemplating cashing in on him in January - certainly not for a couple of million - Less than the drop off in league position bonus money should he leave. I'd be breaking the bank to keep him if I were Pearce. He's no world beater but that abilty to win both aerial battles and footraces is so important to us. PLZ STAY SYLVAIN!!1111 :august31:
  9. Still can't believe Pearce persists with (Or even signed in the first place) Dickov. He is total shite. We're absolutely desperate for goals, I can't see what he's thinking in such a limited player. I think with Samaras on from the start we would have had a little more punch and nicked it long before that failed final flurry when we emptied the midfield looking for the win. Pretty good defensive display from us tho again altho your attacking players hardly put us under any pressure. Sibierski of course was shite but I've got absolutely no idea why Roeder picked Ameobi, couldn't he see in training the guy can barely walk? Different side with Dyer on, much less meat and drink hoofing - I think you'll be picking up soonish if he can stay fit (the eternal question).
  10. Dickov I can smell Harper's pants filling up from here  Trabelsi will be on the right wing and Sinclair will be on the left.
  11. Good news for the lad, he's clearly a cut above, no point messing him around in the U21s and give chances to relatively ordinary players like Young, get him straight in the side as much as possible like they did with Rooney. And the best news? There are no Arsenal players in the England squad to have a little word in his ear. bluebiggrin.gif
  12. No guarantees he'll be playing just cos hes in the squad, hes been shite so far. Can't see him walking back into the side, certainly doesn't deserve to on any grounds other than reputation. I'd play Ireland personally, but I think Reyna will get the nod from Pearce.
  13. What the hell kind of training routine caused Dyer to run into a post? Pin the tail on the donkey? blueconfused.gif PS: I hope Dyer is playing too. Remember that open goal against us a few years back? His selection could be enough to save us from the inevitable bite on the arse from Sibierski...
  14. Wenger has nothing to do with it. He earned his reputation in that season Palace spent in the Premiership and he's not changed.
  15. mental.gif He might not throw himself over when there has been no contact but once he crosses that little white line, his knees turn to jelly and when he is touched, to whatever degree, he goes down like he's been shot. Its embarrasing. He is right in the top bracket of sissy divers with the likes of Krustiano Ronaldo and Arjen Robben. Denied so many penalties? He's won an absolute shedload! blueconfused.gif Feel sorry for him? He is actually very lucky to have not seen a lot more yellow cards than he has.
  16. Hah, quaking with fear at facing the Sib, eh?! bluebiggrin.gif We've not conceeded a goal at home all season, and we're about to come up against a former player who couldn't hit a cows arse when he played for us? I wonder what is going to happen... By the same token, if you've got someone who's going through an extended barren spell or a difficult patch, we're the team they'll be wanting to play against bluesad.gif Good news for most of our team then. We've only had 5 players score for us so far this season. And one of them was Andre Ooijer. Sorry. bluebiggrin.gif
  17. Hah, quaking with fear at facing the Sib, eh?! bluebiggrin.gif We've not conceeded a goal at home all season, and we're about to come up against a former player who couldn't hit a cows arse when he played for us? I wonder what is going to happen...
  18. FYI: At a guess, our team will be: Weaver Richards Dunne Distin Thatcher( ) Trabelsi Barton Reyna/Hamann/Ireland Sinclair Samaras Vassell Unfortunately its pretty hard to second guess Pearce, he is capable of making some bizarre tactical desicions (Such as Samaras on the left wing or Dickov on the pitch). PS: A lot of people picking French Tony to start after he ran himself into the ground the other night? He's no spring chicken, he'll be out of breath after 20 minutes. Better leave him out eh? bluebiggrin.gif
  19. And He'll get his first league goal on Saturday. Absolute stick on. :thbdwn:
  20. What a load of b*llocks! I admit the bias of my personal opinions is beyond Al-Jazeera standard and I've glossed over a lot of his achievements but there a few facts in there and they stand up to scrutiny. Can you explain United's European record from 1999 to present? He has never had any shortage of money in his United career but if memory serves he has won the total of ONE knockout tie since that robbery in Barcelona - And that was against Olympiakos. Last year they finished BOTTOM of their group! . Hardly top drawer for someone with so much experience and moolah. And do you think the way he "replaced" Keane (IE, he hasn't, despite god knows how many years and god knows how much money) is up to scratch?
  21. Dont think ive ever heard so much shite in all my life. You sound like one of those people, who really want to know things about football, but infact you'd rather watch Touring Cars than a Toon match. For you to say he's a ordinary manager is astounding. You fail to mention some of the amazing football we have seen them play, the youngsters he has brought through, The FA cups he has won, the list goes on. If you dont like the bloke fair enough, but dont say such stupid things. What he said. Sounds like nothing but a pathetic rant from a bitter City fan. Makes me wonder what you have to do to convince some people. Of course I'm bitter. This man has brought a generation of "fans" to United that make me want to hurl. I actually don't mind the real ones, but when you're listening to a phone in on local radio and a pissed off daytripper rings in to say "I don't pay my season ticket money to watch United lose"? He's got a lot to answer for. Pathetic rant? I prefer to think of it as a blinkered analysis. bluebiggrin.gif
  22. Tongue firmly up Sheperd's arse... No questions about the protest whatsoever. Journalism at its best.
  23. FAO: People suggesting Distin Pearce claimed at a supporters Q&A thingy recently, that there is no chance he'll cash on him in January. I know he is absolutely desperate for him to stay and hasn't given up hope of getting him to sign. Of course it could be out of his hands by then if things don't improve. And of course you have the age old problem of - Who wants to sign a contract that could see them in the championship in 6 months?
  24. I saw it. The way he comes across, he's almost quivering? He seems so scared, he's obviously in way over his head. I think its pretty obvious why he's got so many relegations on his CV - no bottle. Someone put him out of his misery (Preferably via a P45 rather than a bullet)
  25. I don't think anything has to be said about his character. Complete grade A asshat. But his management "skills"? To summarise his United career. Shite for 6 years, Liverpool appoint Souness and go down the pan, United buy the league for the decade, as soon as someone appears who can match their spending power there title challenge evaporates. European career? 1 robbery, god knows how many more seasons of getting absolutely nowhere near winning it. Ordinary manager with an extraordinary chequebook. Only reason he's lasted so long is 90% of the United fans haven't been "supporting" them long enough to remember anything different, hes just part of the furniture to them. One of the worlds greatest ever managers? So thats why he paid £18.6m for an unsuitable replacement for someone who was past it 3 or more years ago...
