  1. I'm sure if you put the right players around him and he stayed focused he could pull the strings for a Champo team still. How much that equates to winning football these days would be anyone's guess.
  2. Just jumped on his Wiki to remind myself exactly how many years he's been with us. Completely useless information but it'd completely passed me by that we only took him on loan for that half a season in 17/18 with an option to buy in the summer.
  3. Reddit isn't impressed either. Had to go have a look for a laugh as I knew they'd be furious. Isnt it fan voted too? So if all these drips whinging about it bothered to vote, it would've probably gone to Salah.
  4. I'd imagine we gave him the go ahead midway through this run, not expecting him to be nearly as useful by now. In isolation it's not that strange to let a back up 35 year old 'keeper with 6 months of his contract off on a free. Obviously there's now more cons than pros to us doing it and I guess that's why the talk is mostly about us trying to persuade him to stay.
  5. Wouldn't like to say how Potter does there. Look forward to seeing how it turns out.
  6. I'd agree if I believed they were going to start offering a contract extension. But if it's the difference between losing him now and losing him in four months and neither get us a transfer fee, what tangible benefit is there to letting him go now? This is subject to him being happy to give us those few months, of course. If he's dead set on going I guess we just suck it up.
  7. The squad when he rolls up for training on Monday:
  8. Fair point. I'd have thought he'd be loving this spell and would take another 6 months but maybe he thinks the opportunity won't be there in the summer. It's just all felt to me like it's driven by our desire to finally shift some players rather than him pushing for it.
  9. My view all depends on what we actually do or don't get for him. Is the rumour of a buyout and likely very, very nominal fee correct? Then just keep him for 6 months. Is it £5/6m? PSR dictates that we'd need to snap their hands off. That's the first year's cost of a £25-30m player. Considering the age, contract and how determined we are to play nice I fear it's the first and just wouldn't feel worthwhile.
  10. Fuck. That's why I failed both today. Should've just treated it like an additional membership fee.
  11. I don't understand how these watchalongs get viewers at the best of times but how are you making a living and getting YouTube subscriber plaques when you can't even stay awake for the pissing watchalong? I watch some utter shite but people need to have more respect for their fucking brains, man.
  12. A little birdie told me that while the players were still celebrating Mitchell pulled Eddie in to a side room at the Emirates and socked him right in the stomach to 'send a message'. Eddie called Mandy but she said she can't do anything and go speak to Yasir about it. Yasir just got him in a headlock, laughed and said 'nah not Paul, he's a good lad. Just play nice'. Then gave him a noogie and a smack on the back side.
  13. Feel for them tbh. I'm sure I've said similar enough times before but I'd much rather they continue to upset the apple cart than fall away and give the usual suspects like Man U and Spurs an easier sleep walk back in to an acceptable league position.
  14. I think people will only infer that if they want to. Seems pretty clear he's just acknowledging the struggles of PSR rather than saying players are getting sold behind his back.
  15. Especially when - no offence to Longstaff - I don't imagine any clubs looking at him would have realistic enough cup aspirations that it would affect their transfer decision making.

I hear we gave BDB disproportionately higher wages than any other single club in the world would've paid him so getting him off the bill will let us go to £80m for Guehi.
  17. It's not even been a day, mate. People are obviously going to compare a £90 official remake to the original of the best shirt the club's ever produced.
  18. Can't stomach £90 for a remake tbh. May have been tempted if it was £60ish.
  19. Don't know if it's just me but that link's not loading. Nabbed a picture from https://realvintagefootball.com/en/products/newcastle-united-95-97-camiseta-local-xl for a side-by-side. Left is the remake and right seemingly from an the original:

It's even more ridiculous how good he was last night considering I felt others hung him out to dry a fair few times tbh, not maliciously but they've probably gotten so used to him being a Trippier-like outlet. He'd get the ball with no passing options and get crowded out. It led to a couple of inevitable dispossesions but the amount of times he managed to get away with it was so impressive. Says it all that in a team with players like Isak, Bruno Tonali he's my favourite. I love him.
