Then they rush through someone without the public controversy to say 'here you go; you got what you wanted' but they have nowhere near the finances/nous and the club gets run in to the ground. Just feels like the inevitable conclusion if a takeover were to happen now.

I find it strange the need to have to pick one side or the other. The more I see and hear the more I'm of the opinion both sides fucked it for different reasons. Totally relate to this feeling btw. I always maintained even if he came good that I still would've trusted Rafa to invest the same amount of money more effectively across the team. I don't know if I was trying to convince myself of that or others. But how it's all turned out has just made the argument so much simpler to make. Imagine even if they compromised just a little and Rafa got to have his say on the £40m whilst allowing Ashley to take a punt on ASM.
