  1. People blaming his pass for that goal man standing and waiting for the ball to reach you is absolutely criminal at Sunday league level, never mind in the premier league. Willems was fast asleep and 100% to blame for that ball being intercepted, I think Dummet's a shite passer in general but that's not even fractionally his fault.

  3. I know we're in ultra miserable mode but I didn't think he was that bad like not for what is essentially a fourth choice centre half anyway - Lascelles and Schar both had far worse games today. The latter in particular gave the ball away time and time again. Pretty weird to single out Dummett.
  4. Don't they still include season tickets by default? If so it may have been lower.
  5. Don't think I've ever seen a top flight manager completely gut his midfield like that thinking it would get his team back into the game like. Even Pardew and McClaren wouldn't have made a decision of that ineptitude. The fact that we didn't even have a central midfielder on the bench is crackers in itself.
  6. First half we looked alright. Second half was a complete mess. Those substitutions man, holy fuck
  7. But the point isn't what works on or off TV. The point is that decisions are corrected. If it's a problem in ground, which I'm sure it is, they need to solve that with some commentary or whatever. The box has been opened, there's no going back. You can't now wish for less accuracy it's mental. Surely it depends on your personal view as to whether inaccuracy was ever really a problem? When VAR was used in the world cup a few years ago it was sold to the world under the impression that it would be used to correct "clear and obvious errors", and to-date that tournament has been the only good use of the system that I've seen. It's gone way beyond the clear and obvious now. Those offsides in the city game today were mental, there's no way it's an obvious error from the linesman if different frames of the ball being kicked show different results... If they have to analyse things frame-by-frame and still need a computer display to figure out whether it was actually offside then it's definitely gone too far. If they want to get those decisions perfect then why bother having people there to review it anyway? In this day and age you could probably just whack a GPS on every player and every ball and have it work as efficiently as goal line tech anyway; I'd rather wait for a solution along those lines if we're aiming for perfection, because at least the decision would be instantaneous rather than the shambles it is now. Something in the way VAR's used needs to change like. Almost every time a goal goes in now we're just waiting to see if it'll actually count, that just isn't right IMO. It's a bad enough experience on the tele with the commentators telling you what's going on, it must be a complete mess for match-goers. My point on VAR would be they've tried to make it fit existing rules and it won't. They need to amend the rules to fit the technology. Then we can move on. I agree with that, but this should have all been in place before it came into the premier league.

  9. There has to be some leeway like. You're taking away the joy of scoring when you have to hold off celebrating just in case your striker's lace came undone and was dangling offside. Why does there have to be leeway? That just allows the sort of subjective decisions that favour big clubs and home teams. To me, the rule should be based around the position of the players' feet, for a start. By leeway I mean let's not start disallowing goals based on how far forward a player is leaning, or where their arms are, or how big their hands are... If you're going to use VAR to judge offsides, it can only really be a "clear and obvious" mistake from the on-field officials if the attacker's stride is ahead of the defender's IMO.

  11. Ridiculous that like. "Great decision has been made" - fuck off man. You can't disallow a goal like that because someone's fingernails were longer than someone else's.
  12. Joselu shinned in a couple of goals when the defenders completely forgot he was playing, but his overall contribution on the pitch was almost entirely non existent.

We'll finish about 13th. We'll be swirling around the plug-hole for the foreseeable future but I think the players we have will be enough to keep us up this year.
  14. Rafa's training is incredibly intense and to a certain extent repetitive and boring. He will make players repeat drills, positions till they are 100% perfect. It is a lot of information for folks to process. And he is incredibly cold and brutal apparently during training. His attitude was "you train 4 hours per day for 4 days, get paid millions of dollars, why are you complaining, this is nothing compared to what the rest of society do, if you cant take this get out of here". It takes players of a certain mentality to appreciate Rafa - Torres, Reina, Baraja, Mascherano, Garcia. I think there is a big cultural mentality difference in how players from some of these countries approach training - they are ok with it being hard, repetitive, and boring. At LFC too, when Rafa left, there was a lot of statements from players like Gerrard, Carra on how training was "more fun" now. Even Bellamy, who played for LFC under Rafa and King Kenny said how training was more fun under King Kenny. However, at the end of their career, almost all of them acknowledged that Rafa was the best manager they trained under. I think pretty much all of them realized it once we started dropping down the table. So I don't think the NUFC players are being disingenuous or anything. I think they are genuinely enjoying freedom. They don't have a person walking up to them shouting at corners, when the opposition is making 32 degree runs in front of you using zonal marking, you should stand 26 inches from the goal line at 48 degrees. You were at 24 inches and standing at 41 degrees. Let us repeat this 37 more times till you get it right. Well it worked - end of last season our form was excellent. Tactically the players knew what they had to do. His angles were shit on those corners though, we conceded loads from set pieces. Should've been 21.5 inches at 43 degrees imo.
  15. I don't think this is a terrible signing tbh. A bit apathetic towards it, but he's more than capable of causing teams problems as a sub and that's clearly what he'd be considering the money we've spent on other attacking options. On a one year deal it seems a no brainer, if he's going to give his all to stay fit for any club it's us.
  16. Can't believe he's 30 like. He's about 24 in my head.
  17. Definitely got a feeling he's going to be more Obertan than Ben Arfa like, but we'll see. He seems the kind of player who Rafa could've probably turned into a big counter attacking threat, whereas Bruce will probably play him a few times, get frustrated, then revert to Aarons or Atsu.
  18. User > Actions > Ban User Is how I normally do it
  19. Oh please that would be so good Wishing pain on a man you know nothing about is getting a bit weird like. So do people actually want this lad to fail? He's part of Ashley fc so yes. Him doing well probably keeps them up and then guess who wins again and stays longer I don't buy the idea that relegation makes Ashley more likely to leave like. He'll only sell at the kind of fee that people will pay for a Premier League club IMO.
  20. I dunno like. Bruce is many things, but is he Pardew level of scummy cunt? Nah. And Pardew certainly doesn't have any better managerial credentials.
  21. Well that's me convinced. Honestly can't believe how wrong I was about him tbh, cheers for all the hard work Mike Who would've known that Rafa was the evil one in all of this, what a twist

Hard to care about the fee really if he bangs in enough goals to keep us afloat then he's a good signing, regardless of the circumstances. Rondon had a shite record before signing for us too, although obviously the manager made a difference in that regard.

Defence might barely keep us up again, but teams who can't score goals will always struggle to stay up. I think Longstaff and Almiron will contribute 4 or 5 each this season, Schar and Ritchie have a few goals in them, Gayle or Muto half a dozen or so at best if they play all season... Survival basically hinges on Joelinton or whichever striker comes in scoring at least 10-15 goals.

You are, yeah. Just as people are allowed to say whatever the fuck they want if it's on-topic too your apathy (and mine) isn't applicable to everyone. If it was we might as well just shut the forum down till Ashley is gone, because there'll be piss-all positive to talk about for a while.
