  1. Why not? Wikipedia Players who joined Fulham after Coleman became permanent manager Moritz Volz, Carlos Bocanegra, Franck Queudrue, Liam Rosenior, Michael Brown, Heiðar Helguson, Björn Runström, Vincenzo Montella, Jan Laštůvka, Tomasz Radzinski, Papa Bouba Diop, Collins John, Claus Jensen, Brian McBride, Jimmy Bullard, Antti Niemi, Tony Warner etc are all bought by Coleman with cheap or minimal transfer fee. While Admittedly there are some miss amongst (or outside) afforementioned names, and Coleman so far has failed to bring in a regular scoring mainstay striker, Fulham has finished 12, 13, 9 (05/06, 04/05, 03/04) in contrast to Charlton's 13, 11, 7. Coleman essentially have very similar record to Curbishely in this period, albeit a lot more inexperienced. And they both have spent very little. Is it not a hit? Coleman is only 37 (Curbishley is 50). I don't know how high Coleman can reach, but I certainly don't think he is any worse than the likes of Curbishley.
  2. To be brutally honest I find your comments odd. I have never encountered any problems asking for directions, to the extent that I never prepare myself if I go to any new place in Newcastle because I know that helps are plentiful if I do encounter difficulties. There are racisms everywhere. I think if the fans are frustrated in a match they will abuse everyone in sight (especially those soft targets). I would definitely say it is individual case rather than institutionalised racism. As for the chavs, they are just like any problematic youth in any other countries. Some can be aggressive. But as long as you don't purposely avoid them, or provocate them you shouldn't have any problem (I even live in a place flooded with chav) PS Newcastle is definitely a much better city than London in my opinion. London is only bigger hence offereing more varieities. Other than that Newcastle wins by a country mile in everything else.
  3. Just curious, why? (apart from Hiddink's team being more offensive minded)
  4. On a free, Yes. Good Cover for Duff (permanently injured and off form), N'Zogbia (off form), Dyer (frequently injured and not really effective on the wing) and Milner (not refined).
  5. So, what EXACTLY can we expect from Glenn Roeder? He is not that young (51) anymore. What does his past track record tell us? Premiership is a dog eat dog world. It is an elite club and rightly so. From the list below, the vast majority of the managers are about the same age as Roeder or younger. The vast majority of them have impressive CV, the vast majority of them have done well in premiership. How does Roeder compare to them? Where does Reoder stand compared to other managers? What exactly does Roeder do that is better than other managers? Roeder and pundits alike always point to his academy connection, but how much credit can be trully attributed to him? Wenger, O'Neill, Allardyce, Pardew, Mourinho, Moyes, Benitez, Pearce, Ferguson, Redknapp, Jol, Curbishley all have significantly better youth grooming record. (Southgate + Boothroyd too new to judge, Coppell Jewell Warnock I ain't know a lot about their record in this area). Squad builder? Wenger, O'Neill, Hughes, Allardyce, Pardew, Moyes, Coleman, Pearce, Ferguson, Redknapp, Coppell, Jol, Boothroyd, Warnock and Curbishely have proven to be good squad builder under limited budget. Mourinho has shown that he can manage big. Benitez has done well in big money transfer. Southgate has shown he knows how to address his squad weakness, though it remains doubtful if he can get the max out of his players. What has Roeder done? Poor record in West Ham, poor record in Newcastle. Martins is a hit, Sibierski a so so player who scores the odd goal, Rossi a wasted talent, Bernard a failure, several positions not reinforced. It seems like the only few advantages Roeder has are that, he is better than Graeme Souness , and his is not as inexperienced as Southgate or Pearce. Stuart Pearce, an inexperienced, overactive showman manager, whom many expect him to succeed, and equally many expecting him to fail, has yet to get his club relegated. And in fact his team is sitting nicely above us now. Gareth Southage, an absolute rookie manager, has manage to get his team to only 2 points behind us. What, apart from the good boy image and his last year good run, has warrant him a place as Toon manager? As pointed out by .com, his this year record with Newcastle is identical with the one Souness had (which led him to be sacked). Roeder has Martins, Taylor, Duff. Souness had Luque, Boumsong, Bramble. Had Souness actually done better than Roeder in Newcastle? (Even with his expensive misfits) Roeder has injury crisis but Souness had one too. How much patience can we afford to Roeder? How much longer can the "Honest Hardworking Illness Academy" image shelter Roeder from the fans' wrath? I wish Roeder every luck, but does he deserve this job? ------------- Arsene Wenger Record speaks for himself. World class manager. 6. Why can't be 3? 1, 2, 3 ... 3 players so three, tres, trois, tiga. Single option poll would signify the sole winner but a multiple choice poll gives a better picture on the relative merits of different players. And this is my intention.
  7. Anyway Good night loves .. Time to bed ... Big games tomorrow. Big dinner tomorrow ..
  8. Try highlighting Midds post. If you can't see it quote it. Very good trick in my opinion

  10. Ok continue the banter then since I don't know how to lock the thread ...
  11. Still no need for foolish piss take name calling.
  12. Stop this childish name-calling. The quoted news is intended to be a laugh for fellow forumites not to be a fire starter. Thread locked.
  13. I know this mate. Those players are players I suggested, not players I nailed as must. I am not a scout, I am only a fan giving out suggestions from what I know. That Earnshaw and Rasiak (premiership flops according to you) are top scorers in Championship does not mean that we should simply see Chopra et al as sub standard footballers. If Championship performance should not be used as gauge, then why do are Bale, Nugent et al so highly rated and sought after? If Nugent, or any other, were to be that good surely he should easily score more than flops like Earnshaw, Rasiak and Chopra? Just look at the current premiership table, and you will see many players who did well in Championship could do well in Premiership too. Ashley Young, Hameur Bouazza, Marlon King, Robert Green, Daniel Gabbidon, Anton Ferdinand, Reo Coker, Marcus Hahnemann, Graeme Murty, Nicky Shorey, Steve Sidwell, Ibrahima Sonko, Glen Little, Leroy Lita, Kevin Doyle, Dave Kitson, Ívar Ingimarsson, Sam Sodje, Seol Ki-Hyeon, Paddy Kenny, Phil Jagielka, Michael Tonge, Scott Carson, Darren Bent and a lot a lot more all started from Championship and below. Do they deserve the scorns freely dished out in this thread? Even Theo Walcott was discovered in Championship.
  14. But whose fault for the injury situation in Newcastle United? Really purely down to lucks!!?
  15. Ok Delima can now reveal the secret seating of Chelsea dressing room. Chelsea dressing room has always been a forbidden place for the media because the seating of players can reveal a lot about the internal relationships between the players. There is a famous joke about Newcastle United share price and the dressing room turbulence. After the day Ruud Gullit had a row with Shearer, the share drops significantly the next day. So as the day after Shearer had a fight with Bellamy in the dressing room. In the past 3 years there have been 2 major refurbishments of Chelsea dressing room. When Ranielli was the manager, there wasn't any "Manager Office". But since Mourinho arrive a room has been built upon his demand. During 2005 summer, the dressing room was extended again. Between the Information Room and the Treatment Room, there is a conference space specifically used to for the pre match and half time talk. Mourinho does not like to speak to the players sitting infront of their wardrope scattered around the dressing room (the one you see in Big Ron Manager, Celebrity vs Legend, France 98 semi final + final leaked video etc). Contrary to popular belief, Mourinho's speech is alway brief and precise, hardly lasting longer than 5 minutes, concentrating on 1 or 2 issues. He knows that the players in general won't be interested in specific instructions to specific players. So he would summon individual players to his office from time to time for specific tactical instructions (eg Ashley Cole needs to be aware of Aaron Lennon cutting inside). The arrangement of the players' wardrobes reveal a lot about the dressing room secrets and harmony (or lack of), thus no journalists would be allowed to enter there. Such information can be easily used to decode the abounding rumours. All 22 players always use the same sitting in home, away and training matches. Everyday a player goes into the dressing room to change, then resting and chatting, then training or competing, then showering and changing again. Dressing room life is takes a bulky place in a player's life, so we can know easily by the sittings who are close to who. On the right next to the corridor, you have Cudicini (the outermost), then Cech, then Hilario. Turning left, you have Calvalho, Ferreira and Tiago, the three Portugese musketeers Mourinho brought in with him from Porto. In exchange for first team football, Tiago volunteered himself as bait to seduce Essien here. The Portugese camaderie is there to see. On the right of Ferreira, you have Schevchenko. Further right in sequence, Diarra and Essien. Another turn to the left, next to Essien's, you have Makelele, Mikel, Drogba and Geremi. Pity Shevchenko, sandwiched between Portugese mafia and African gangsters. To the right of Geremi, skipping two empty wardrobes, is Saloman Kalou, then Ballack, then Robben, tehn Boularouz. Netherland and Germany are both Germanic countries. Kalou was denied a chance to play for Netherland in the World Cup, but perhaps in heart he is more Dutch then African. Right next to Boularouz are Joe Cole and Ashely Cole. A white and a black, a West Ham youth product and and Arsenal youth product, they are only hi and bye friends. Another turn to the left, you will see the other 4 English finally. Lampard, Terry, Wright-Phillip and Bridge. Lampard only moved his playe in summer 2005. And is it coincidence that Wright-Phillip and Bridge, two unappreciated mercenaries, are seated together? There are 6 Englishmen in the dressing room, but only Lampard and Terry can be counted as the pillar of the club. What would happen to all these players if Mourinho isn't here?
