  1. I beg to differ. Sibierski is not worse than Ameobi. Martins is not worse than Owen. Hutington is better than both Bernard and Babayaro. Taylor is better than Moore. Ramage is steadier than Bramble. Edgar is not worse than Carr, worse than Solano though. N'Zogbia is better than Milner on the left. Both Given and Harper are better than Srnicek. So in fact the team we are playing are near to our full strength. And the starting 11 against Spurs could be said to be our best 11.

  4. Voting Closed. Results 1. Martins - 21.3% 2. Dyer - 18.1% 3. Parker - 16.3% Congratulations to 3 of them. Well done others as well.
  5. Nicky Butt has been a major bonus So as a vastly improved Taylor.
  6. To say that Bellamy is a support striker is a complete joke. Bellamy was the main striker for Blackburn, who did he support in Blackburn? Bellamy is now the main striker for Liverpool. Kuyt supports Bellamy far more than Bellamy supports Kuyt. Martins is a superior player to Bellamy, like what Knightrider says.
  7. I don't think it is silly move for Pardew. What are the possible better jobs? No way he is going to get a job in Championship. Clubs who are fighting for promotion won't sack their managers. Clubs who are fighting to avoid relegation are minnow clubs except Leeds and Hull. Leeds won't sack their manager in near future. And it seems like Pardew is not interested in Hull, because the job is his if he had wanted. Premiership clubs who might sack their managers this season are Manchester City and Middlesbrough. But Southgate is doing even better than Pardew despite being totally new to the management world, and Pearce has not done any worse than Pardew either. Charlton is an established, though small, club with established facilities and setup left by Curbishley. Pardew does not need to restructure the club again. All he needs is just getting the best out of the players and being shrewd in January transfer window.

  9. Excellent posts TMonkey. Thanks. Just like we don't need SWP even if he is available at 5 millions. That 5 millions, the player wages, the massive signing on fee should be channelled to areas we need to strengthen, ie strikers and full backs.
  10. I don't hate scousers mate, just like I don't hate Mancs, Goerdies, Mackems, Cockneys etc. PS You have an excellent signature picture. But who is the one on the left? Gudjohnson?

Weren't you one of them a few weeks back? What!? No no you must have confused me with someone else. Let's just let me explain my position again. I opposed to Roeder's apointment because of the bending of rules, and that Roeder's excuses were weak and false. In addition Freaky Shpherd promised us a world class manager, or something to this effect. I didn't oppose him on the merit of his CV or coaching. When Newcastle United went through bad patch early season, I was worried, and I raised a few threads/polls enquiring people's opinions on Roeder. At no point I voice my opinions that Roeder is not the right coach/manager for our club at this moment. Of course he is not the best manager availalbe, but after Souness, a manager like Roeder, steady and calm, with relative merits will do nicely for us. From time to time I have disagreements with Roeder's selection of team and transfer, but those should not cout as Roeder bashing. When people were complaining or bashing Roeder so much in the game against Chelsea (we lost 0-1), I was the one who defended Roeder!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone! Love you Roeder. Can Roeder bashers please shut up, please shut up!
  14. Honestly, we had a gem with us and his name is Michael Chopra. He has a much better proven record, and he has also looked a better player than both. Shame that we lost him to Cardiff. For the sake of this debate, I would prefer Eastwood. Nugent to me is more of a playmaker. His scoring record is actually not impressive. Supposedly the new person will partner Martin. Given Martin's habit to drift outwide or to the midfield, I think Eastwood would compliment him more.
  15. I thought Roy Keane is doing pretty well in Sunderland, considering this is his first ever managerial job (he has no experience being an assistant manager either). After the ininiital honeymoon period and the subsequent reality check, Sunderland are progressing slowly upwards and Keane has assembled a pretty good squad with little money. Obviously his Man U connection and reputation have done him big favours, but whenever I see Sunderland play I always thought that they resemble the Man U's style, albeit with much inferior players. He needs to sort out the defense. Then I reckon they would easily be a force to be reckoned. They already are actually, they are just 3 points from the play off positions.
  16. As you say they need both quality and quantity. Not discounting what David Jones have achieved with Cardiff, but in my opinion he could really got a few more players to compensate potential injuries. Loans, bosmans, etc. Steve Bruce was right to say that he lost more than 10 players this season, but he recover the number with some astute loan Arsenal players. Billy Davies also got Lupoli and Jones from Arsenal and Manchester United. I know that Cardiff got Gillbert but now it is evident that it is not enough. David Jones is a man of considerable reputation and experience, so he should have handled the situation better. Many managers in championship, apart from Bruce and Parkinson, operate on tight budget. In my opinion Billy Davies has done a better job than him in Derby. Alongside Paul Simpson, I would love to see how they would fare in Premiership with bigger budget.
  17. David Jones manages Cardiff. He somehow managed to throw away consiradable lead in Championship though, and his team has slipped to 4th or 5th now. He is a good safe bet for any team wanting to advance into Premiership and he wouldn't be good enough for the high expectations of Newcastle United. So now it's the managers fault? I thought these things were down to the Chairman and Board? :winking: blueconfused.gif blueconfused.gif blueconfused.gif blueconfused.gif blueconfused.gif blueconfused.gif blueconfused.gif But it's HTL .... :celb2: It must be :exc: :celb2: :celb2: :celb2:
  18. Taylor is certainly a CL class youngster. Duff in his prime, Solano defintely a CL class right back (not right winger).

    Owen

Not so long ago Roeder insisted on playing an utterly unfit Shola Ameobi, who was about to board a plane to America for surgery, instead of Rossi or even Luque.
  20. I symphatise with David Jones. But I always think that if a squad is small, then only the manager is to be blamed. You are probably right to say that he is in the same ball park as GR. Let's give GR a bit more time to see if we can steer the club forward.
  21. To be honest Newcaslte have been hotter and hotter in recent years, in December.
  22. It is a common antic in premiership to be honest. Not that I agree with what they do, but I don't think that they have blatatnly excessively moved the ball sidewards or forwards. That said, we lost by an unfortunate free kick. I am happy with how the team performed, and overall happy with Roeder's tactic.
