  1. I have always been taught that Howay = Away, like Toon = Town
  2. What? You can suggest that Luque was the most hardworking player on the pitch. How could I rebut, without using video replay, if you insist so?

  4. What? Milner was awful again imo. He's not quick enough, his crossing is erratic and spends most of the time facing our goal, even when we are attacking. He rarely makes a penetrating run (this is in most games) and stands off opponents. His all-round play gives off a thick-school-boy-but-with-plenty-of-potential vibe. STILL. The 8 is given to Solano, not Milner. Milner helped Solano a lot in defending. And he always made himself available to Solano and the latter is trying to find someone to pass the ball to. That, for me, is good understanding between the pair.
  5. Just because Taylor has 1 or 2 good blocks does not mean that he plays well. Bramble has more timely interventions, including a few that saves Taylor's arse. Bramble's contributions are less spectacular, and his mistakes more glaring, but his positionings, readings of the game are better than Taylor's last night.
  6. Shay Given Poor 5. Nolberto Solano Intelligent. Good understanding with Milner. 8 Steven Taylor Poor. Bramble saves his arse a few times. 5 Titus Bramble Poor. Still erratic. 6 Peter Ramage Poor. Very poor in anticipation, and consequently relying too much on 1 on 1 defending which he is not great at. Putting much pressure on central defenders. 4. James Milner Good. Could still improve a lot more, but an encouraging performance from him. 7 Belozoglu Emre Good. However, he still appears in his own half more than in opposition's half. 7 Nicky Butt Poor. Allow too many goals to reach the defenders. 6 Charles N'Zogbia Improve when deployed at wide left. Not as good as Milner. 6 Albert Luque Poor. Getting little balls from teammates. And let down by Ramage's horrendous forward service. 4 Antoine Sibierski Good. Challenge for every aerial ball (and hence giving a sense of direction to the team  Willing to attck from deep middle. Hold and use the ball well7 Glenn Roeder Right tactic, 4-5-1 to stifle the midfield. At times we retain the possession quite well, but the oppositioin manager counter this, successfully, by skipping the midfield and playing long ball game. Change the formation timely. Poor performance is more due to off form players than wrong tactics. 6
  7. It was amazing how we didn't concede a single goal just now. To me the central defenders were poor and Given wasn't brilliant either. He has been beaten many times only for the incoming ball to somehow miss the target. It is tempting to suggest that Eintracht Frankfurt simply did not have any luck tonight. But I think their poor finishing are rather to blame than their bad luck. Your opinion?
  8. Steven Taylor is shiter than Titus Bramble tonight
  9. I don't know how people put Taylor as star man. To me he is the worst central defender tonight. Bramble had an odd few error but he recovered well and those errors were generally harmless. Whereas Taylor, while having an odd few bright moments was poor generally. Poor positioning, slippery man marking. Thankfully Bramble was there to clear the mess.

  11. If Pearson could get someone like Curtis Davies or Paul McShane to Newcastle United I would be ecstatic.

    Fabio Cannavaro

Wenger: Henry deserved award, not Cannavaro I don't disagree.
  14. How about some good Bosman signings? Or some good loan signings? I am sure they woudn't want to miss out the TV money windfall. At the beginning of the season I worried about their offensive abilities due to their over reliance of Marlon King, and thought they would do well defensively because of Ben Foster and Danny Shittu. However their problem is now witht heir leaky defense rather than scoring. Ben Foster is injured and Shittu has not played as well as his manager had expected. Maybe they need our mighty Bramble
  15. I fear that Watford would not be relegated, and I for one do not want to see them relegated. Boothroyd and Burkingshaw are capable of pulling rabbit out of the hat. Due to lack of money their suqad are thin and of low quality. Still, they have played some good football and were at the current position due to some poor lucks. Come this Janury, if they can reinforce their squads with some good signings, I think they might just remain in the premiership. They are extremely unluck that Ben Foster, Marlon King, Ashley Young and Clarke Carlisle their 4 major players expecially thier former three are all out injured. Apart from Young, the rest are suffering long term injuries.
  16. I don't disagree with you Gejon. I think I am just being pedantic with Yorkie. Yorkie, you can just ignore me we both agree that Ramage has something in his tackling and blocking. We simply disagree on how good he is.
  17. I know you said that his blocking and tackling are exceptional. The defenders I have listed are also known for their tackling and blocking, to various degree, skills. What is your opinions for those player's blocking skills?
  18. These players are injured, heavily or lightly. Link K Dyer gashed leg 6th Dec 06 S Harper sports hernia 26th Dec 06 C N’Zogbia bruised shin 30th Nov 06 doubtful J Milner hip no return date very doubtful S Parker back no return date very doubtful D Duff knee 26th Dec 06 C Moore hamstring 26th Dec 06 O Bernard hip no return date M Pattison knee no return date T Krul knee no return date C Babayaro groin 6th Dec 06 S Carr bruised toe 30th Nov 06 doubtful S Ameobi hip Jun 07 M Owen knee (ACL) May 07 In other words, only the following are available. Given, Foster Solano, Bramble, Taylor, Huntington, Gate, Edgar, Ramage Clark, Emre, Butt, O'Brien, Luque Martins, Sibierski, Carroll, Troisi I would not want to risk N'Zogbia or Carr even if they could make it for the German game. I wouldn't want to play Solano and Martins too so that the former is not exhausted and the latter not injured. Henceforth I would play Given Huntington - Taylor - Bramble - Ramage O'Brien - Butt - Emre - Luque Sibierski - Carroll But surely Roeder won't select the same team. Whatever the outcome is, it is pretty sure we are to see some new and young faces come this thursday.
  19. If Ramage is exceptional, what is the adjective you use to describe other defenders such as Taylor, Vidic, Terry, Cavalho, Ferdinand, Toure, Gallas, King, Dawson, Woodgate, Potagetz, Campbell, Carragher, Hyppia, Yobo and de Zeeuw?
  20. Luckily you are not our manager. We are short of senior central defenders after Boumsong left and Ramage being constantly used as a left back. You might not rate Bramble but he is still a very useful player to us. With him we conceded quite a few silly goals but without him we would have conceded a lot more. After Souness took reign in our club he purged quite a few squad players. Soon he complain about the injuries situation. We are now left with Taylor, Bramble, Ramage as our fit defenders. If anything happens to Taylor or Ramage, who should fill the void?
