  1. Wrong - most will stay because nobody will take them off our hands, or the players won't take the step down in wages... Besides which, it's not like we've ever sold players without replacing them...

    Roeder.....

Did we ever get an adequate explanation for Craig's... leaving us? I remember the rumour being a falling out re Bernard but I have the memory of a goldfish, so...? Lee Clark was seen as the cheaper option. No other rational way to explain it. Hmmm... But Clark was already on the books - and then Roeder went out and got Pearson, which surely cost a pretty penny in wages and some sort of fee to WBA?

  4. So fucking accept some of that responsibility damnit!!! Examples might be: "I erred in Holland" "My team selection against Man City may have been too negative" "I can totally understand the fans frustration when my tactics and substitutions turn out to be wrong" "Making Scott Parker club captain was a mistake" Etc
  5. I'm guessing it's this one - http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/newcastleunited/news/tm_headline=i-will-wield-the-axe%26method=full%26objectid=18842117%26siteid=50081-name_page.html
  6. In the words of the Barenaked Ladies: "It's all been done"
  7. That's a ringing endorsement of your gaffer there! That being said, we could play the same game with some pearls of Glenn Roeder wisdon too I read the quotes Parky mentioned, and Roeder's response was that relegation "has not crossed my mind". Well sir, may I advise you to look at the table, the fixture lists, and the DVD's of our previous few games, take the time to consider the possibility and then plot a course to avoid it?
  8. That's all well and good, but there's also the small matter of fitting the right man into our club... For instance 12 months ago your description would have fitted Paul Le Guen, but who'd have him now?

Curse you for getting people's hopes up! Of course, if he did resign it wouldn't be "sensational" at all - it would almost be "honourable"
  10. Aye, the man has a firm grip on reality What disturbs me is that he seems to have no realisation of our current predicament: Never crossed your mind, eh Glenn? I'm sure it never crossed your mind that Birmingham could smack us in January, or that playing for a goalless draw in Holland was a suicide pact, or that losing at home to Man City (and all the rest) was possible either...
  11. No, what I'm saying is that after that shite result people have every right to be hurting, that calling for Roeder's head might not be a kneejerk reaction, but the accumulation of evidence that he is ill-suited to managing this club.
  12. Can we also have a rule the prohibits trolling after a home defeat to an inferior team? If you pull your usual routine after this result you're going to piss a lot of people off - but that's the point, right?
  13. What he said... So who do we prefer, Lee Clark or Terry Mac to run the show until the end of the season? Please don't say that. It's called Gallows humour <-- My vote

    Bramble or Gooch

Well, Moore said he wanted to come home quite some time ago - and in the thread I posted in January ( http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=35358.0 ) the manager trying to sign him in Australia hinted very strongly that Moore was holding out for another contract. And as I said re Bramble and Onyewu, if I was Moore I would feel I have every chance of staying another year - but I know this goes against popular opinion, thus why I ended my last post with "But I guess our fearless leader will reveal all at the end of the season..."

    Bramble or Gooch

See, I don't believe Moore is "definitely off" at all - I've had this beliefe for quite some time and recent developments re Bramble and Onyewu have strengthened this belief. But I guess our fearless leader will reveal all at the end of the season...

    Bramble or Gooch

So you would say that Moore, Bramble and Onyewu are all off at the end of the season? As depressing as it sounds, the thought of that scares me a little - can Roeder be trusted to bring in at least three adequate replacements? Plus the other signings necessary ie left back, right back, centre midfield, striker...?

    Bramble or Gooch

By that logic Moore might stay...? Do I get to say "I told you so" if that's the case? I'm of the opinion that Moore is hanging out for another contract with NUFC, and if that doesn't happen I reckon he's more likely to end up in one of the "retirement leagues" of the Middle East hoping for one last payday. Coming back home to Australia, contrary to what he may have said earlier in the season, is his last choice in my opinion... After all, does anyone think Roeder will allow three centre halves to leave in the summer?

    Wes Brown

    From the initial article:

    Wes Brown

With only one year remaining on his contract he surely wouldn't cost that much!
  22. Glad to hear some tough talk - I just hope it's backed up by tough action...
  23. Raconteur

    Wes Brown

Ah, but our fearless leader has, for his own (obviously very good) reasons, ruled him out* * Of course, he ruled the Gooch out just days before signing him, so...
  24. Raconteur

    Wes Brown

That's a danger - plus the other concerns such as injury record and fat pay cheque and our wonderful record of signing ex-"big four" players... But on the plus side he's better than what we have, wouldn't cost a ridiculous fee and is (according to that article) eager to get back into the England scene - something he could only do at right back due to the less competition there. On balance I'd take him, as long as we signed one significantly better centre half as well (and of course a left back, striker and centre midfielder! )
  25. Emma Bunton tbh. Or Geri Halliwell - those two were the only ones worth looking at for mine...
