Even if he did feign injury, we'll have to deal with it in another way. We just can't afford to lose him now. Bullshit we can't. If he plays again after feigning injury and destroying our tactical shape, that would seriously undermine Shearer's leadership. Beg your pardon but...Shearer's what? Shearer's leadership? Are you sure about that? I think you were trying too hard to be snarky there that you forgot to say what you were actually trying to say. Fairly obvious, really. I don't get a strong sense that Shearer's supposed "leadership" is really all that strong in the first place, so that this little episode with Martins merely goes to underline that analysis for me. Sorry you needed me to spell it out for you though.

It's not just about the failure of Shola Ameobi to be half-decent footballer worth his probably ridiculous salary. It's about the consistent failure of Newcastle United's owners and managers over the past decade to recognise that the lad is an average Championship player at best. To that extent, the phrase "about as effective as a solar-powered lamp" could be used to describe the competency of Messrs Shepherd, Robson, Souness, Roeder, Allardyce Keegan and Shearer as well as Messrs Ashley etc who have seen fit to keep the bandy-legged muppet at the club labouring under delusions that he could one day be good enough to play for England.
