    Hatem Ben Arfa

The one consistency being the fact they've all been complete moody cunts, without fail.
  2. Cheers Kaiz - took Rosenborg at 2/1 in play after 72 minutes. Also have backed Brann at 2's for tonight.
  3. It didn't mate, so glad I didn't share it. It ran a fantastic race but misjudged the second jump from last and all confidence drained from the horse. Shame.
  4. Has anyone used Sporting Bet before? The odds they're offering are way better than anyone else and I wondered whether there was sort of catch?
  5. It's not ran yet mate. Odds have gone out a bit making me wonder whether or not to lump on to quite the extent I was planning to earlier.
  6. Hav eyou considered telling us the name of the horse? Mate, I would but I hate passing on tips incase they are shite. In fairness this guy has given me quite a few very good ones lately but I never pass them on for fear of upsetting folk, kids going with shoes, wives without food and me without knee caps.
  7. Wonder if someone can help me out with this? I've been given a heads up to look out for a horse running later at 9/2. It's a small race (field of 8) and there's an 11/10 favourite. The 9/2 horse is a second favourite. The question: What would the odds be roughly on a reverse forecast on the 9/2 horse and 11/10 horse? Would I be better off just lumping on the 9/2 horse E/W and taking 1/4 of the odds if it comes second? Are they any better options that I've not considered?
  8. I saw him have an absolutely outstanding game when he was playing Spurs at our place - he was an absolute rock. Only bettered by a Tony Adams defensive display at St James' in my years of watching us at home.
  9. If he has then he's an expensive insurance policy (£3.9m over two years if he's on £40k per week).
  10. Demands met by Pompey at the start of their 'pay players whatever they like' campaign culminating in their unfortunate demise. But, at least they won the F.A Cup, eh Harry?

    Houllier?

See the article here: http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard-sport/football/article-23858097-gerard-houllier-my-mate-roy-hodgson-can-restore-good-times-at-anfield.do Second to last paragraph he refers to us. Apologies my original quote further up isn't exactly accurate and forget the 2004 reference as it was in relation to Blackburn.

    Houllier?

He also said his big regret at Anfield was letting others make transfer decisions when he was unwell. Think he mentioned Diouf and Diao as two that should never have been signed. He slated Roy Evans saying he was never a Manager, too nice, didn't want to upset big name players and was only ever capable of being a number 2.

    Houllier?

He was very critical (albeit indirectly) of Benitez in the same article Neesy saying much the same ...............he reckoned a few players after the champs league win were in touch and told him it was his team that had won it etc etc. He said 12 of the 13 involved were his players.

    Houllier?

Yes mate, was gonna post this yesterday. Try the Evening Standard online. I read the same article in there last night (hard copy) and he said something along the lines of "I've had some offers from Premier League Clubs since and I thought it was going to happen and then they went and appointed Keegan". He referred to 2004 being the year but that didn't seem quite right from memory.
  15. Very good player and the type of player we need, if not the type of person. My concern wouldn't be whether he'd be an improvement to the squad (that's a given) it would be more around the huge wage he'd command, the significant transfer fee and the fact he's on a downward spiral injury-wise. His game is so reliant on pace, he's one more injury away from being finished and he tends to miss a fair few games. So, all in all, probably a no from me albeit I'd not be crying into my beer if he did re-sign.
  16. You can be a good coach/ manager without ever having been a world-class player. Hughton and Calderwood were better players than Ferguson and Mourinho, but look at the players the latter two have coached. Also- surely that's one of the benefits of signing someone with quality and experience- you shouldn't necessarily need to be hollering instructions at them- in fact, you'd use their experience to assist you on the pitch. Because Hughton & Calderwood should be mentioned in the same breath as those two. A good job someone told Capello that - don't bother shouting instructions at Gerrard, Lampard, Terry etc - use their experience.
  17. Or Dean Saunders being Alan Shearer and Michael Owen's striking coaches.....hold on a second! Quite. I did think of that example funnily enough.
  18. Whilst I'm all for bringing a couple of experienced pro's on board there's no point in signing someone who'll struggle to play two games a week if you want a consistent CB partnership. Bring him on board as a Coach by all means. Give him a squad number by all means. But let's not pretend this will end well if we do go ahead and sign him. Sol Campbell in his pomp was a fantastic player, like a fucking one man wall. That was some time ago now though - and he's turned into one of those players ex-England internationals (and top, top players) really shouldn't - a traveller - chasing the money. PS: How exactly is Sol Campbell going to appreciate Messers Houghton & Calderwood hollering instructions at him? It'd be like Ronny Rosenthal being Torres' manager.

    Joey Barton

Not one 'World Class' performance in three years (football that is, excluding Boxing, MMA etc) and he reckons he's got a chance of breaking into the international set up? He's got no right to be saying that unless he's got a Glaswegian Granny, Estonian Uncle or his Dad had a sordid affair with a San Marino based model cum mentalist.
  20. You know he would go and belt in a 30 yarder I'd pay to see Joey crunch the bastard.
  21. Yeah - really sorry you didn't feel great Mikey. You'll not be surprised to hear that we were on top of the world when you, as our Club Captain, oversaw a complete fuck up in our history and didn't even have the bollocks to apologise for it on behalf of the rest of the squad. I still maintain my thoughts on that final day at Villa Park...............I hope your horses all get foot and mouth. Little Welsh Bastard.

    Dan Gosling

TT, I would've thought that would only be the case if he were attached to them in some way? If there is no longer a contract in place between the two parties (which there isn't if it expired) surely he's free to do what he likes and Everton have no comeback? Appreciate there would be a development fee if this was January '10 and we'd offered him a deal and so had they but I'm guessing because he's not contracted to them all bets are off from Everton's viewpoint? Maybe wrong - is there case law on this? Sturridge's contract hadn't actually expired had it?
  23. No. I guess Klose would have played anyway. But Cacau is a good impact striker - and without him they would have to bring on Gomez in case they need another striker. And Gomez is shit. Cool - thought he wasn't a big loss but wasn't 100% sure. Good news then, albeit indirectly.
