  1. Prior to last season he played more than 25 league games for 4 consecutive seasons That being said, I don't necessarily disagree with the point Haydn is making. We need to phase him out. Don't think we should extend his contract unless he is fine with a bit part role and reduced wages.
  2. I think Potters style of play is more suited for top teams, whereas Moyes & Hodgson were expected to change their style that made them successful with smaller clubs. It's more similar to Rodgers moving from Swansea to Liverpool. Hopefully for Potter, he has a higher ceiling than Rodgers.
  3. That was a step closer, but all the retro shirts seems to have name and number already. Any experience of this? Apparently hand crafted in Gateshead. https://www.toffs.com/shop-by-team/football/premier-league/newcastle
  4. Not important to be fully authentic. It's just meant as a little bit of fun to give my father a shirt with number 0 and a Brazilianised version of his name. I had a look at DH Gate yesterday and couldn't really figure it out? Everytime I click on a shirt item I just get a message saying that the page does not exist. I try to click on this f.ex ' end up here:
  5. Are there any online stores that sell retro football (Newcastle) shirts and do custom number and name print on the back?
  6. No brainer for Potter unless he has a special sentimental connection with Brighton, their players, staff and fans. I assume his personal goal is to win trophies, and that will be very difficult to achieve at Brighton when they lose their best player to the top teams every season. Chelsea has quite similar players to Brighton, only with more quality so if the players buy into the way he want them to play I think he'll do exceptionally well there.
  7. Not saying he is better, but he can become better, and I don't want Maddison to hamper his progress. I don't see the reason why we should loan him out to a championship side when he's dealt very well with the PL in the appearances he's had so far. Would much rather we focused on improving RW position in January unless Almiron were to find another level we weren't aware he had between now and the next window.
  8. Still super meh for me. Sorry Fully appreciate many will disagree with me on that. Similarly to the Pope transfer I'll happily hold my hands up and say I was wrong if he comes and improves us. For now though I think we have lots of proven quality. We need to make room for potential as well. Maddison is quite limited when he isn't responsible for set-pieces (and we have a few very competent set-piece takers already) and seems (maybe influenced somewhat based on his last game admittedly) lazy off the ball. He isn't as good at dribbling nor as fast as Anderson. You don't have to watch many games to see stuff like that. The question about Anderson for me is if he can consistently put in performances like he's done so far on a consistent basis and for 90 minutes - but he needs to get the chance to prove it.
  9. Besides the fact he just signed a new contract, and we are in a position to tell them to fuck off, I'd be extremely surprised if it was something Howe would even be slightly interested in. He seems fully committed and motivated to our project.
  10. He needs playing time to develop, and he won't get that if Maddison comes in. I think Anderson is more suited to our play style as well. Maddison doesn't really strike me as the type of player to put in the work off the ball required in this team. We don't need him for set-pieces either.
  11. I'd be super nervous right now if I was a Brighton supporter. Not really surprised that Chelsea are the ones to kick-off the managerial merry go round this season.
  12. Super meh about Maddison. Use Anderson instead, and go for a top quality RW.
  13. He'd improve 100% if he stopped shopping for inspirational qoutes from bed, bath & beyond.
  14. I can't remember a time where the PL has been as stacked in terms of top quality and promising managers as there is today. Out of the current managers, if Howe was to spontaneously combust this evening, I wouldn't mind any of the current ones to replace him bar Gerrard, Lampart and Lage.
  15. He seems to have the ability to play across all midfield positions really, maybe with the exception of DM although he seems quite strong in tackles/duels. On the wing his pace will always be a limiting factor on how well he can do imo, so I'd like him to replace Willock for a while and see how he does with a good run in the team. Willock did some of his best work for us under Bruce coming off the bench, so is a good option to have against tired legs as well.

Agreed. Although not as blatant and dangerous, it was similar to the Gravesen assault on Bernard. It's good VAR can pick up on those things. The problem imo is the inconsistency and incompetency of the referees.

We've reviewed ourselves and found nothing wrong.
  18. Was mentioned in beginning of the match he had the worst save % in the league of 43 or 44%.
  19. Will he get any interest? Looks a complete passenger in this game and was at fault for Brightons two first goals.
  20. Was certain you were being sarcastic one post earlier. Not sure anymore.
  21. If there ever was a decision to push doubters of conspiracy over the hump, the decision to overturn our goal was it. Has VAR team come out and explained why it was disallowed?

You said you were trying to explain how protecting the full backs works in a diamond formation - presumably to allow us to play 2 up front which means changing the system. Was just wondering if that is what you want Howe to do, or if it's just theoretical speculation of how it could work.
