  1. Yeah we were desperate to improve center mid, but in the same time our current ones have improved without Bruno thanks to Howe. Just doesn't make sense to bin any of them when they have contributed to 3 straight wins.
  2. Didn't he play mostly on the left for Bournemouth? That would make sense to me if so.
  3. The Bruno desperation is getting a bit sad on here. No matter who gets injured, the only solution to avoid armageddon is Bruno to some. I doubt Howe will make late changes to the tactic & game plan, most likely it'll be straight swap for Murphy or Almiron. Tea lady home with the sniffles? Gotta play Bruno.
  4. The Newcastle part seems to be starting at around the 32:30 mark. Starts positively at least by saying "somehow Pardew managed to get the Newcastle job".
  5. Young, talented, quick and injury prone? Sounds like a 1999-2005 Newcastle signing.

Is my memory right in that the last season or two in the PL under Short they were struggling to fill the stadium and ended up giving away loads of tickets, to the point where people cancelled their season ticket because they could get free tickets instead?
  7. That was his last match, and he was stand-in striker that match. Newcastle United Football Club - Match reports -Coventry City (a) (nufc.com)
  8. I can't remember Keegan ever playing Milner centrally. He was always stuck out left where he looked very ordinary. At the time I didn't mind he was sold.
  9. Would prefer we tried to get Brennan Johnson rather than Eze.
  10. In the context of being second and third choice RB, Manquillo and Krafth are pretty good players. If you look at typical teams we want to compete with and overtake next season: West Ham: Ryan Fredericks, Ben Johnson Villa: Young? Chambers? Everton: Kenny, Patterson? Would anyone prefer their options to ours?
  11. It's about 12.5 years if you saw them in their first CL matches, so you don't even need to exaggerate to make your point tbf Haven't seen a CL match from start to finish since Barcelona - Man Utd in 2009. As @Yorkiesays it's a boring competition with the same teams every season.
  12. Atletico lost at home against Levante. Levantes second win of the season. Is their Trippier effect wearing off?

    St James' Park

As long as the location is good, there's a football field with enough seats around it, and a team who's trying to better themselves every day, who the fuck cares how it looks really? Who's going to say ah naw can't cheer for my team today because the stadium looks like shit, or fuck no am I going to support my team in that ugly bowl, I can't be seen in such a ghastly place.
  14. Are players normally instructed to keep their mouth shut when asked about the manager and training? When asked about Howe and what he's been like as a manager all he says is: "hard working, fight for everything" like he's the biggest PFM in the history of Football I always hope players elaborate a bit more on their managers approach and training when asked but every player has more or less the exact same answer for any manager.
  15. I feel the "first 10 games" stuff is a bit short sighted as it's only looking at the results. We've been playing better since his first match in control, he's phased out the regulars that weren't performing while giving them a chance. If we won against Brentford and Norwich, which we should have and it's hard to blame Howe for those results, it would have looked a lot better and we'd currently be on 25 points sitting 14th in the table. We also played Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd and Man City in that spell.
  16. Can the FA kick the PL out of the "system" so to speak, and give the CL spots to the top 4 of the championship?

    Kieran Trippier

Fingers crossed we're not in a position where Howe will feel compelled to rush him back. Healing the fracture is one thing, but isn't it also important to build up the muscles after this kind of injury to prevent other injuries from happening? Or is that assumed to be part of the time out?
  18. I emphasized with Bellamy and felt he was justified in kicking up a fuss due to Souness using him on the right wing, as his best position is obviously as a striker. Possibly a bit clouded by my dislike for Souness I will admit. I wouldn't do that if ASM for some reason did the same because Howe didn't play him as a #10.
  19. I'd love Rashford here. Both for what he does on the field, but also off the field. Can't see Man Utd selling him to anyone, not only us, no matter how much he needs saved.
  20. I think he has better understanding of English than Almiron, which is quite remarkable considering Almiron has played in English speaking countries for the last 6 years Was an article/interview on Almiron by Sky from May 2021 where he said he was now taking English lessons, so maybe he's gotten better over the last 9 months but still.
  21. I'd add CM to that list as well. I don't want to see Shelvey and Willock playing regularly next season. While they are serving a purpose in the way we are playing right now, I hope we get someone in that allows us to control the game/keep the ball more together with Bruno, and have Joelinton, Shelvey and Willock competing for the remaining spot & serving as squad/back-up players.
  22. But you still wanted Bruno to play against both Everton and Villa I find the "don't change a winning team" mindset about as solid as the "you play your best players" mindset. Based on what I've seen so far, I prefer the "manager knows best" mindset.
  23. He's not the player he was 2014 - 2018, and he currently has 5 goals in 21 premier league games which isn't exactly indicating that he's just in a temporary decline. Wilson who's of similar age has 6 in 15. I'd much rather keep Wilson and Wood as our experienced strikers and focus on finding our next #9 for years to come.
  24. Immediate reaction is yes.
  25. "I remember when we used to have 25 shots in a game and couldn’t score. Now we have 4 or 5 and can’t score. Much better" "It's like 11 strangers, formation is better, but no cohesion or communication." "There's no great change in the reality of our play. But shape and approach is straight shite now, and is how Bruce has always set his teams up. I could atleast get behind the last managers philosophy." "Another manager with zero plan B" Still many of them blaming the players more than Bruce. Will probably take another month or two before the majority of them gets past the denial stage.
