Honestly couldn't say how Gini performed at Liverpool as I never really noticed him when I watched them play, but understand he had more defensive duties at Liverpool than here. However, based on the situation we are in now, and how he performed for us when we had the knife to our throats back then, I'd be hesitant to bring him in on loan unless we also bring in another central midfielder. Big risk to ask him to be the driving force in midfield to save our season when we know he already failed to do so before.

Can't think of a worse transfer move than handing out a long term, record breaking deal to a player that is past his prime years and taking a step down in the career ladder.

The three first google hits says he's rumoured to be on anything between £44k - £74k a week which sounds much more probable than 100k - 200k

I'm not particularly good at judging defenders, but Mings, Tarkowski & Lascelles all seem of similar standard to me (& all of similar age)? Don't understand what people see in Tarkowski that would imply he's an immediate improvement upon the defenders we already have. Lascelles was solid under Rafa, playing in a well drilled defensive system similar to what Tarkowski does under Dyche. We don't know how he would cope with being more exposed in a more attacking system.

I've never heard of him before, but reading up on him & doing a bit of Dennis Wise scouting, Campbell seems a perfect fit for us. Young, hungry, seems to have a good combination of pace, strength & technique. He won't need to be relied on to be the main striker for another 2-3 years so doesn't come with the pressure of f.ex Joelinton and Mitrovic, but is probably good enough now to be decent cover for Wilson if he needs rest or is injured. Would also be great to finally be the club that get one of the "why didn't we go for him when he was in the championship" players other clubs seems to get despite us always at some point being linked to them like the ones @Dokkomentioned. You can add Bowen, Watkins and that other former Brentford player at West Ham.

He knew the budget (or lack of) he was going to get. He knew the players at his disposal. He spoke publicly to the media after his appointment praising the owners ambition and quality of personnel already at the cloob. One long term injury to DCL and one month injury to Richarlison shouldn't excuse the league position they are in. If he gets fired for poor results it's all on him imo. Hope he gets them back into winning ways, except against us, and proves the Everton fans wrong.
