We've seen the "this time it's different" story from Shelvey at least two times before about how he is changing his life to become a better player. Let's hope it's permanent this time but I have my doubt. Got no problem playing him on his purple patches though. Let's just hope Howe is quicker than his predecessors at taking him out of the team if his focus and performances drops.

I'm happy Lewis got the chance ahead of Ritchie. I'd prefer Fernandes instead of Lascelles but hey, 10 out of 11 is pretty good. Can't ever remember being 100% satisfied with the team being put out by any manager since first round of Keegan. Even under SBR there was always 1 or 2 picks that annoyed me.

Lindgard is the type of player that should be far down on our list of potential targets. If we could get him on the cheap both for transfer fee and wages then sure he'll improve the team right now, but he'll be demanding a long contract, high wages and turns 29 in a few days. Just the type of players we hated clogging up the squad because they were past it and on too good deals to be able to move them on the last few years under Shepherd. I don't care about PL experience. Get young and hungry players instead no matter what league they're playing in.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I had the impression that he was fairly slow, not very combative, relatively small but tidy passing ability, so basically a shorter Shelvey with hair and better free kicks.
