It's easy to look good defending with 5 at the back when the opposing team doesn't have anyone with pace or particular dribbling ability. We saw this against West Ham and Burnley too. Another case of looking better than we actually are. No way we'd win today if Everton had Digne, Richarlison and James in the team.

It's worst when the defenders have the ball, even in acres of space they are scared to carry the ball forward, they end up just passing it uselessly amongst themselves until it ends up being hoofed forward. Tbf it is the only opportunity they have to string more than two passes together, so maybe they're padding the stats?

It's funny to watvh. The players have no clue what to do when in posession and just wing it. To me that looks like the main reason why they can't string more than two passes together. There's no recognized pattern of play. The players with the ball have no idea where team mates are, will be or what runs they are likely to make.

Think Bruce has decided he's 'Rafa's player'. It's absolutely bonkers. I've never been Almirons biggest fan with his ridiculous theatrics, but you could put him literally anywhere in our midfield except for ASM and he'd improve the team massively.

Worth mentioning that Hayden is anchoring the midfield behind Shelvey and Hendrick as well
