Seen a few videos saying Liverpool are pulling a power move by approaching us for Isak and threatening that they'll bid for Ekitike if we reject the bid. Can someone explain the logic to me on how it's a power move? If any of it is real, it's just them bidding for their first choice and moving on to their second choice if they can't get their first choice...? Only that they are revealing to us for some reason who they are interested in to give us a chance to act quicker and more decisive to get our target ahead of them?

Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

D. Isak (LFC) Ekitike (LFC) -
Have I misunderstood completely? I though, unless it's a loan with obligation to buy later or a ton of individual and team based add-ons that takes longer to fulfill than the length of his contract, it doesn't matter how the structure of the deal is. It's his total cost spread over the length of his contract that is taken into consideration no matter if we pay them in installments or not?

It's probably real intentions to sign him on our end. It's the other end of the table I'm skeptical about. -

Haven't read any posts in here for god knows how long, just seen the title changes. Really smells like agent work using us once again to put pressure on other bigger clubs like when he went to PSG. -
Every player in the team has room to improve if you ask Howe. He's consistently said that about the likes of Hall, Livramento, Gordon - heck, even Isak You said Osula probably hadn't shown what they wanted to see in training, and Howe has obviously been happy with what Osula has done there consistently over the whole season so I don't see that as a relevant argument for why he hasn't been given more opportunities.

https://www.geordiebootboys.com/news/eddie-howe-shares-what-he-has-noticed-about-will-osula-in-newcastle-united-training/ - 30 September 2024 “With Will, he’s come in and we were well aware that we would have to go to work as coaches and Will would have to go to work as a player to develop himself and improve every area of his game to become a Premier League striker. “We feel he has the attributes to do that. Very, very quick. Physically excellent. Obviously he’s a tall and imposing character. His best asset is probably running in behind and stretching the line for us. “He’s got some things to smoothen out in his game, but we’ve seen already, certainly from the battles he’s had with our centre-halves in training, that he has an ability to score goals and an ability to have a physical impact on the game and make it uncomfortable for defenders. “We’re working hard with him. He’s working hard himself. His attitude has been excellent. He comes in with a big smile on his face every day. His career and his game is going in the right direction.” https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/articles/clykwjj3d0po - 13 December 2024 Osula's appearances have been sporadic so far, but Howe is backing the Denmark international to contribute in Wilson's absence, citing his physicality as a key asset. "I think it is a huge jump for him, in every way," said Howe. "I have been really, really impressed by him. His attitude to learning is top and he works with a variety of coaches after training to improve. "You don't suddenly land and adjust and become a Premier League striker [but] he is readier than he has ever been and now with Callum out, he has to step up. He is big, quick and strong and there is just that refinement. https://www.geordiebootboys.com/news/eddie-howes-plans-for-william-osula-confirmed-after-newcastle-united-training-admission/ - 2 May 2025 “I think he’s trained pretty consistently all season, and he’s very enthusiastic, very driven. There is still work to do in his game, as there is with every player, but he’s going in the right direction.”

For me it's a logical flaw. You can't show what you can do if you aren't given the opportunity to show it. With Wilson gone and Osula being a Howe/Tindall pick they need to show some faith in him. There's always the January window if he's been given plenty of playing time without performing well.
-
I definitely live in some weird parallell universe where some people see something completely different from what I do. Osula was clearly a better option to Wilson every single time Wilson was subbed on last season simply by being able to run. That he can dribble past players, got a good height to be dangerous on set pieces and has a cracking shot in him are just added bonuses. Besides, he's never shown us he can't be relied on in his rare appearances. Don't understand where this comes from. Is it because of his personality?

Professional athletes gets a pass for my sake for having that mentality. Just hope his dedication to improve is carried over into actual performances like it did for the likes of Zlatan and Ronaldo, rather than being a new Bendtner.

Great if we're able to get a few million more than what has been offered for him. Awful if we price him out of a move and lose him for nothing next summer. In this instance I personally wouldn't have gambled on Leeds (or others) coming back with an improved offer.
-
Has it been debunked though, other than people on here simply refusing to believe it's feasible that he is on a big contract? Most sources quotes 79 - 100k a week. Don't find that particularly unrealistic myself after his successful loan spell here.
-
First thought that crossed my mind when seeing that picture was floated set penises, second one was "Moke" but can't exactly remember why...?
-
Don't know what you're discussing, just here to comment that, being honest, it's really just ONE cross from RW, isn't it? Fucking beautiful it was.
-
It's a good price for us, it's a good price for Leeds, it's a good opportunity for Longstaff.
-
Win win win. Get it done.
-
Goykores is probably the most risk free striker Arsenal can buy outside of England. He is tailor made for this league.
-
He was probably a better player back then compared to the player he is now. The Rafa version of Longstaff, before his injury & subsequent Bruceification, is probably ahead of Willock in our current squad.

errr, not sure that's how it works when a club overpays for players (and I'm not saying £55m is overpaying for Elanga - honestly don't give a shit as long as Howe and his team are happy with the squad by 1st September)
-
Right, so they're basically gambling that their spending eventually will start to pay off or hope to be bought up by middle eastern oil money when there's nothing left to loan and no new investors willing to put more money in?
-
I get that Chelsea have managed to cook the books so they have pretty free reigns in terms of what they can spend within PSR, but how can they afford all their spending? Where is the money coming from? I doubt Boehly is funding them out of his own pocket.
-
It's just my personal preference. If we went down that road and the new players didn't set the world alight I honestly couldn't care less if some numpties on here got mad about it a year down the line. The club have proved capable of picking up great players that would cost 2x and maybe even more if they were already playing the PL. Have some faith, grow some balls and lets go for it! Mbuemo & Pedro are functional players but boring as fuck.
-
Tough summer. Personally I hope it ends up forcing us into gambling on talents with higher ceilings that are more unknown rather than expensive known qualities. Mbuemo and Pedro in particular are highly unlikely to get any better than what they've shown the last couple of seasons. While good players that would absolutely strengthen us, I want more for less even if that means slower progress and the odd dud here and there Call it the FM-sickness if you will.
