21 years old regular starter in ligue 1 and Senegal international. If this is how Boehly values players maybe we should have a look at other players at Strasbourg? Only going by highlights he seems to be a great pick up for them. Fast, strong, attacking minded player who seems to be good in transition, which I imagine will fit a team like Sunderland well when fighting to stay up this season.

Sell on clauses are usually a percentage of the the profit, not the whole transfer fee, so the selling club will get a profit anyway as long as the accepted sum is higher than what they paid for the player themselves.
-
Isn't it only a pre-agreed fee that Leverkusen has to accept and allow Liverpool to talk to the player? Surely Quansah wouldn't be forced to join Liverpool if he didn't want to? Or does a buy back usually include pre-agreed terms with the player too, which the player might regret a few years down the line...?

Not really that into the kits & merch stuff, so maybe its too late already, but I'd love a 3rd kit done like Bohemians did with Fontaines DC, designed by f.ex Sam Fender, with a meaningful amount of the price going to humanitarian aid to Palestine.
-
Be more surprised if Liverpool would accept a similarly priced bid from us or any other league rival. If he's 40m for Leverkusen, he's probably 50m+ for us.
-
I thought it was widely understood that neither Ashworth or Mitchell do/did the scouting. They make/made recommendations based on player profiles and positions identified by Howe, and input and recommendations from the scouting/analysis-teams.
-
He turns 24 almost at the start of the season. Pretty big gamble if we are assuming he'll magically become a much better player here at this stage of his career. Main reason for buying him has to be that his profile fits into Howe's plans.

yeah, that was what I said...? History, getting to play in front of 75k fans and potential of the club is all well and good, but not enough unless you're offering more than better ran clubs that can either offer CL now or a pathway (with track record) to move up the food chain .
-
Even if he doesn't ccome good here, i.e a bit underwhelming and Murphy ends up being preferring more times ahead of him than not, at 17m we should probably be able to turn a profit on him after a season or two unless he absolutely stinks the place out, which it doesn't look like he would. Edit: Very low risk signing we absolutely should be in for. Edit edit: And of course if he comes good, we've got a fantastic bargain that allows us to focus more resources on other needed positions.

Pretty naive to not think the wages Man Utd can offer isn't their biggest pull atm. Unless its trying to sign a player who's been a fan since childhood. The history, getting to play in front of 75k fans and potential of the club if they get their shit together is a nice bonus, but if they aren't paying above what other interested clubs are offering, I can't see why anyone would choose Man Utd. You'er kind of in the situation we were in early 00's after missing out on CL. Only reason we got (shitty) big names in was because of what we paid them more than anyone else would.

2 players actually under 21 in the England side, none in the czech one. Why is football so stupid
-
Paraphrasing a bit, but it was Howe in a press conference early on saying we don't just look for good players but good characters, which got translated into "no dickheads" which I imagine isn't far from the original intent of Howes wording.

Got absolutely merked by Ryerson from Lyngdal which resulted in Norways thrid goal. Sell.

He's had two seasons with Nottingham Forest whom have been playing a low block and hitting teams on the counter. Hope he has a good work rate and is adaptable to a high press. I love his pace and that he can cut inside to shoot or go outside and cross, so he'll definitely strengthen our squad. If Eddie wants him above cheaper alternatives and possibly at the expense of other areas that could use strenghtening then so be it. I don't think there's an issue with the player, but I can see it coming back to bite Howe in the ass at the end of the season though in the event that we start getting injuries to a few key players for a lenghty period of time which starts affecting our results. We can't really excuse him for poor results due to injuries if we've burned our budget on say 2 new players.
-
Doku in our team is 2x the player and way more exciting to watch than he is in Borediolas system. I don't know anything about him as a person, but going by skill alone I'd probably have him over both Gordon and Barnes.
-
Yeah, I'd love to see them given a chance too. Some rise to the occasion, some don't. Chelsea sold Hall for psr.
-
Tino and Hall had already had their breakthrough when we bought them, by being given enough time to show what they can do in the PL by Southampton and Chelsea. Of course, more players will not make it than those who will, but we won't know until we give them a chance.
-
We'll never unearth talents here if we aren't prepared to give talents the opportunity. Both Miley and Osula got criminally little game time this season imo. If they don't get more next season they should get as quick and far away from here as possible for their own sake. With peace and love, the "he hasn't shown enough" crowd can go fuck themselves. Can't show anything if you aren't getting meaningful game time.
-
I thought their documentary series was funnier than ours.
-
They already need to strengther their whole squad. Would be a massive blow for them if they start the transfer window having to replace one of their best players on top of that. £25m doesn't help them mucch, if any imo. They're better off keeping him.
-
He's got 3 years left on his contract, so unless there's a release clause triggered they'd be mad to accept. A half decent season in the PL and they can double that amount.
-
If we end up not getting him, and Brentford isn't keeping him, I can't think of any other (realistic) place I'd like to see him go than Man Utd. He would drain a huge amount of money in transfer fee and wages (without this made up CL/no CL clause) from them while being unsuitable for Amorims system.
