  1. Far bigger chance that he'll see it as a vindication of his management style and double down on his shit tactics
  2. He'll at least get the World Cup, imo. Nah, don't think it'll be as easy as on paper. What guarantees do you have that Sam fucking Allardyce could lead a team to the World Cup? Are you even certain the FA want England to qualify? The 2018 World Cup could be a disaster if the "fans" clash again, failure to qualify could be a blessing in disguise.
  3. Somewhere in South London Alan Pardew has just jizzed himself
  4. Are the England players actually aware that they're losing? They're playing like they're running out the clock in a friendly rather than losing against Iceland in the knockout stages of Euro 2016
  5. I wonder if it isn't partially down to the oft-discussed problem that youth training has had for years - a kid who develops faster than his peers (taller, more developed muscles, etc.) with a reasonable bit of talent looks to be the next big thing simply because he's playing against kids 6 inches shorter or without the muscles to compete with them. By the time they're in their early 20's though everyone else has caught up physically & the big lump has never developed talent beyond what they had aged 18.
  6. I remember a friend coming back from watching his son play in a youth game years ago raving about this amazing defender that was playing. Turns out it was Taylor and at the start of his career he really did have a lot of potential to become a good player. Sadly he's got all the intelligence of a doorstop and gets injured every time the wind changes direction and never managed to develop into the player he might have been. All he's actually done is take up a space in the squad and earn a ludicrous wage way beyond his ability. He's been another of the players who we've needed to replace for years but the idiot beancounters running the club never seem to see beyond a contract to see the player under it. Now, with him gone (and hopefully a bunch of others to follow) we might actually be able to build a squad that gets more time on the pitch than in the treatment room.
  7. Just a reminder that Joey Barton was injured for the vast majority of our last Championship season. He played in the first few games then vanished with an injury until near the end of the season when we were almost already promoted. He played in fewer games than Fabrice Pancrate. If there was a determination amongst the players to make good and get back into the Premiership it had fuck all to do with him.

    Relegationometer

In fairness, they had no plans for survival either. I can't even see Charnley making plans for lunch, he probably sits quietly in his office hoping that someone will offer to go to Greggs.
  9. To pelt the useless fucking cunts in the starting XI with rotten eggs. Just kidding, I'm not going to waste a second thinking about that shower of shite.
  10. Thank fuck for that & thank fuck for Cabaye not giving a damn about his set pieces
  11. Pretty appalling half, too many fouls given away & the players simply cannot cope with the quick pressing game that Liverpool are playing. They're being forced to make hasty clearances which just leaves the ball with Liverpool to make another attack. That said, a more experienced goalkeeper might have prevented both goals.
  12. Everyone does. Horrific officials is all there is Probably says more about how little football I watch these days
  13. Not a horrific result. How come we always seem to get woeful officials?
  14. Unexpectedly good today, Townsend was outstanding & linked up with Sissoko really well.
  15. It's a running theme with this club since Ashley took over. Every chance they've had to build some positive PR, do something worthwhile for the club, the fans, the players, etc. they've instead decided to go down the adversarial & confrontational route every single time: Keegan quits - release a positive statement about how much they appreciated his work for the club in avoiding relegation & building a positive team for the future and how it's a shame that they couldn't find a way to work together, etc.? Nah, just call him names and blame him for everything, that'll go down well. A player has cancer - release a statement immediately to say that the club will do everything to support him through his treatment & possibly throw in some cash to a cancer charity? Nah, shove him out of the club, deny that anything is wrong, pretend that he doesn't exist and actively try to make sure he doesn't hang around too long. I'm fairly sure that they have a PR department and it surely isn't that hard to build positive PR but it's like they all wake up every morning and actually decide that they should treat everyone like cunts.
  16. nah, you clearly only wrote 3 paragraphs there.

    Graham Carr

We have no idea which players he was pushing for & in what positions. Is Carr making the deals or Charnley? Does Carr just provide a list of players randomly or is he being tasked with finding players for specific positions? Either way, the results have been catastrophic. The entire board need to be sacked over the events of the last 2 seasons. From failing to make any contingency plans for Pardew leaving, to chasing McClaren, to appointing Carver and not sacking him when it was clear that things were falling apart, to finally appointing McClaren and spunking a fortune on players whilst leaving huge gaps and failing miserably to plug those gaps when given the opportunity in January. We'll probably find out that the Benitez appointment was a mistake & Charnley misdialed when trying to offer the job to Robbie Savage. This club needs an enema.
  18. 1st half was utter crap, no idea how the hell we weren't 4 down by half time. That midfield created simply nothing for 45 minutes whilst letting Norwich players to run past them every time.

    Paul Gascoigne

Putting the 'being shit at life' bit slightly to one side, I suspect a young Gazza wouldn't progress through academies these days as the 'chosen ones' all seem like little robots. Very technically adept, competitive, and most of all very good at listening/paying attention/being well-behaved. Not many who look like they would crack you up on the coach or who have the attention span of a goldfish. Watch a fair bit of under 7 & under 8 and the 'elite' (yep, that's what they call them...) kids seem to have a pretty joyless experience of footy. Real shame, given they're all sold the dream and risk having all their 'self-esteem eggs' in one basket but even from those who last until under 9's, less than 1 in 500 are likely to have a professional career after 21. That said, if someone had appreciated the talent of a young Paul, I really hope he would be better supported and nurtured these days (bizarre as it is, I really wish he'd went to Man Utd instead of Spurs- think Fergie may have done a Giggsy on him). Clubs have a duty of care to their young lads, the kind of pressure they're under must mess with their minds; even those from loving well-balanced families. Putting Gascoigne in a team alongside Bryan Robson & Paul McGrath would not have been a great idea if you wanted him to avoid drinking.
