I agree, although I think it may become English dominated to the point it may lose some lustre. Villa or Juve should win it next year, Juve only in due to their points deduction. Typically the English team will be the favourite for every game they play including the final. 7th in the Prem Will pretty much always be better than the respective side in the other league. Good for West Ham to win it early!

Just switched the coverage on and absolutely delighted to see no Rio Ferdinand. Great start. (watch him be on comms)

If the Qataris are clearing the debt and updating the stadium the total cost to them could be much higher? As said before it costs them nothing and pays them a handsome return. They’ve set a price that is basically unrealistic to anyone, even a Petrostate which is quite and achievement

Because it’s always been a marketing thing along side a bit of a proxy war. PL is the worlds biggest billboard. They don’t care about making people in the west think they are wonderful.

Alcaraz created their goal against us iirc (Sulemana may have got the assist but he instigated the move)

It’s a pretty make or break transfer window this for Liverpool. They can’t really afford to get it wrong. It’s helped that they are only having to focus on one area of the team too. You look at their business under Klopp and there is very few misses and those that have been are more unlucky AOC with injuries etc.

Seems mad that Chelsea could sell all their players who are anything approaching a leadership figure. They are like some weird experiment of squad building from scratch.

The Managerial Merry Go Round™ - Keith Andrews appointed at Brentford

wasn’t saying one should go there just that their ambition is likely curtailed without one -
Didn’t need to revamp the training ground did we

To be fair Roca is 6th on that list and was rubbish. Free transfers are never free, you need to be careful about ending up with a player on inflated wages you can’t sell. If we don’t go for him I’m sure we’ll have our reasons.

It sort of feels like Spurs have hit their natural ceiling and their continued dining at the top table is more about staying there rather than actively competing for honours. Their managerial appointments seemed to be made with getting top four in mind rather than winning anything, but the egos of those coaches were based on trophies and thus was always going to end in tears. Levy could bet the house trying to compete but knows they would likely fall short so decides to temper the ambition each time. Business first. He’s a little bit like Ashley (albeit much more competitive) in that he’s perfectly happy just to exist in the top four and everything else is just a pipe dream. They need a sugar daddy to go any further most likely. Can’t see them replacing Kane with anyone close to his talents under their current policy. -

Where’s the leadership in this Chelsea side? Previous managerial chaos was fine as you had a constant unit of Lampard, Terry, Cech and others there providing continuity and a winning culture. They seem set on selling longer serving or local players that could provide this (Kovacic and Mount). I still see a very expensive collection of players who have little hold to any more in terms of a club identity. Poch is a talented coach but it’s an absolute mess there. There seems to be an assumption that it will be a return to business as usual for Chelsea this season but it feels there is still the conditions there for more chaos. If you look at the other top sides (ourselves included, Spurs excluded) they all seem to have an actual identity and units of players who provide the link to the leadership and just as importantly the fan base. Maybe I’m wrong and this is always wishful thinking but I hope they continue to crash and burn.
