  1. For all this talk about xG (which I agree is often a good indicator of form) there's one team overperforming even more than us. Hardly see anyone mention it in regards to Liverpool though which I find a bit weird?
  2. I signed up at the introductory price and after looking around a bit it definitely seems worth it. Waugh's articles are a couple of steps above what he did for the Chronicle at first glance. It's just nice with a dedicated sports magazine online without any ads that just works and loads fast and so on. Looking forward to it!
  3. I'd say that the 'different manner' comment relates to how it's communicated. Not through a Whatsapp conversation that is.
  4. It's the same shit every time. Transfer window=Outrage, disappointment and hopelessness. But when it all actually starts I am all giddy and nervous again. I can't seem to stop giving a damn. And hoping. Most managers other than Rafa would probably have changed this though. Love the man! ?
  5. As I said last week. There's absolutely no point in starting Steven Taylor over Lascelles. World-class manager or not that is the wrong choice...
  6. Just because he's a class manager doesn't make him excempt from criticism. Selection today was poor, Taylor over Lascelles which in turn meant Mbemba had to play on the wrong side and Cissé over Mitrovic were the wrong calls IMO. And Sissoko should probably have started at left back after doing well there in his brief spell vs. Sunderland.
  7. I don't disagree. But we've finished the games against both Sunderland and Leicester strong after a few tweaks and subs. There's no denying he's a class manager though.
  8. His starting 11's starting to irk me tbh. This is as bad as anything McClaren's team served up. Has been good with his subs so far though so there's hope if we can hold on until half time.
  9. @skysports_bryan Newcastle manager Alan Pardew understood to be inside Wembley now. Independent Commission deciding punishment today. #nufc Posted half an hour ago.
  10. I do, but I'm at work and she's at home. This is better than actual work though.
  11. I did a quick calculation of long ball percentages for the Premier League. Doesn't look too bad in isolation. http://i.imgur.com/2Na35XB.png?1 EDIT: Nice spelling error on Southampton there BTW.
  12. Clicked the wrong option. Mid-table mediocrity is my answer, not Pushing for Europe.

    Alan Pardew

Since Villa away on January 29 we have played 19 Premier League games. We have won 8, drawn 3 and lost 8. This gives us a PPG of 1,42 which would equal ≈54 pts per season (38 games) or ≈60 pts per season (42 games). In 21 seasons of Premier League football this would have had us placed anything between 6-10 in the league. In 9 seasons we have bettered this, in 12 seasons we have been below this. (Or 10 seasons if we take out the Championship seasons). So, if anything, Pardew is doing a good job of keeping an average Premier League Club average if you look at the last 19 games. There's certainly a lot of room for improvement, but it's not as bad as its made out to be either. Performance wise on the other hand...

On the point of producing top athletes/players from the North East and from the Academy; How often are the younger age groups training at the Academy? I remember seeing some documents from the Academy a couple of years ago and was baffled as to how little training they were actually doing. Or are they involved with other boys teams as well in the younger ages? With kids sitting at their computers and consoles all day long the spontaneous football is all but dead. Therefore, surely the only way to combat that is to increase "organised" training time?

  22. I would have loved for us to be average like St. Etienne and finish 5th last season.

Gerry Francis is available tbf This is what worries me the most, I saw one report where he said that the club or Kinnear had been in touch. As it currently stands, Pardew is probably our best hope. We've really sunk that low. The Francis link was from the last time JFK was here. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/gerry-francis-ponders-newcastle-offer-956381.html
