  1. Surely we can't have taken three weeks to talk to a host of candidates, narrow them down to a shortlist and NOT have spoken about contract, transfers, structure and so on? Reading between the lines in regards to Emery we seemingly haven't talked to Villareal, haven't offered him a contract or given him the assurances needed to make the move. It sounds an awful lot like amateur hour in my opinion. I mean even in my profession you get the framework for the deal done early in the process and then pick and choose from a number of candidates. Surely we can't be that bad? Or can we?
  2. Of course he's having some doubts. We haven't got a structure in place that is fit for purpose for a Premier League club. I wouldn't expect a manager with the CV of Emery to sign a contract with NUFC without knowing exactly what the plans are. He could sign a contract today thinking that he's got the final say on transfers for example and we then hire a DOF/SD in two weeks time who's the opposite of Emery. We'll have a nice little KK/Wise/Jimenez situation on our hands again. Except that it would be played out in public, live on Twitter and streamed on Prime. We NEED to get the structure in place or at least an idea of what it'll look like before any elite-ish manager will sign. It will only end in tears otherwise.
  3. I don't think the wages are an issue here tbh. I can totally understand the doubts Emery have (if true). Who is the incoming DOF/Sporting Director, will there be one at all, how much power will he wield transfer-wise and so-on? He's leaving a great job at Villareal, at the top of their group in the CL, to take over a club in 19th in the PL, with an unbalanced (poor) squad. Surely he would like some assurances as to what his and NUFC's future looks like? The DOF/Sporting Director really should be in place first. And then let them hire the manager. Otherwise this has every chance of failing badly. But I don't really think anyone in the media knows for sure as of now. Maybe there'll be a triple presentation tomorrow with a CEO, a DOF/SD and a new manager? Wouldn't bet on it though.
  4. Norwich will probably have time to sack Farke and bring in Howe before Charner's gets there anyways.
  5. Seems like the mistake here has been not making an official approach in the first place? If they decided that Emery was the one, they should have went to Villareal and matched his release clause. Now we're being made out to look like fools. (Not that Emery himself has covered himself in glory so far with his comments). It's all a bit mishmash atm unfortunately. Hopefully we'll get it done though.
  6. Well, it was a bit weird that the leaks happened yesterday tbh. Disrespectful towards both Emery and Villareal before a huge game. It's almost like someone's trying to fuck us over. Hopefully we can get him in anyway since he really would be perfect for where we are right now. If he doesn't want to come, fine, get another man in. Not Howe or Martinez though. Would be disastrous IMO. (Still want Fonseca me ). Would be a bit miffed tbh if Villa get Fonseca, Spurs Conte and we'd settle with Howe or Martinez.
  7. Would be a great coup tbh. He's a proven winner and seems to be perfect for where we are and what we need right now. Probably also tells us that there will be some huge investments in the squad and infrastructure to even be able to lure him from a Champions League-team at this point in time.
  8. Hm. I don’t like the idea of Nuno tbh. Got a bad feeling about him for some reason. Yeah, he did a great job with Wolves for a while but there’s something off about him I can’t shake. Think it would end in tears tbh. He’s a bit too cautious, I’d say we need someone who can galvanize the fans, squad and club through charisma and personality. I know I’ve said it a lot of times but I’d much rather an “unknown” with a penchant for progressive, attacking football like Fonseca, Jaissle or Amorim than Nuno.
  9. Dyer was superb for us. When him, Robert and Solano were firing on all cylinders we were a very good team. Bobby’s team had so many different threats be it the sheer breakneck pace of Dyer, the intelligence and sweet, sweet right foot of Solano, the power and directness of Robert, the brute force and never-say-die-attitude of Shearer combined with Bellamy’s tenacity. Fucking hell I miss those days.
  10. Of course it can be a bit frustrating waiting for this. But I have faith that they do what they think is right and will get a set-up in that will take us forward. As for this weekend's game, anything other than a defeat is a bonus due to how our team looks and how mismanaged we've been for such a long time. A new manager wouldn't change that IMO. Would definitely be for the best to have the new man in place before Brighton and the international break though.
  11. No managers have been interviewed, we've gone from the UK's cheapest billionaire to the world's cheapest investment fund. The reason for the complete guesswork and silence is that there's absolutely nothing to report. Still suffering from the Ashley years here, expecting the worst. In reality though I do think that they're taking their time. Once we get a team in place for the football side of things decisions and deals will be much quicker than this. A super important decision that will help form the club for the future would always take time once the takeover was approved in the middle of the season. Fingers crossed we get something really special, that the fans can get behind.
  12. What’s the system bud? Home team Lucky 15’s at 3s or over?
  13. Rafa would be ideal in a way. But at the same time I don't want to ruin what he gave us the last time. Also, I would think that some of the less brainy sections of our fans would get on his back in no time if things are perceived to move to slow and/or lack of attacking football. I'm also hesitant to how he'd work in a set-up with a Sporting Director/DOF. For me, I'd want something fresh. Preferably an up-and-coming continental manager who has a progressive and attacking ethos. Someone who can both coach the players we do have but also give the fans something to rally around. And I want that coach to work with a Sporting Director/DOF. IMO this would give us the best chance of sustainable and longterm progression where a coach can be replaced within an existing and functional framework. I like what I've seen from Fonseca, Ten Hag, Terzic and maybe even Jaissle. Any of those working alongside Campos, Overmars or Rangnick would be awesome.
  14. The thing about our squad being mediocre and facilities being limited to say the least is the greatest reason for turning to a manager with a clear and progressive philosophy. Realistically most of the squad won’t be here in 18 months. I’d far prefer a manager that tries to turn us into an attacking team instead of going for a “safe pair of hands”. Rafa would probably be the safest pair of hands we could turn to right now but I’m honestly not sure I’d want to revisit that. There’s always the risk that everything he built with the fans last time out will be tarnished by the new expectations. I’d probably go for an exciting name such as Fonseca/Ten Hag or maybe even Jaissle or Edin Terzic. A manager that can grow along with the club and help mold it together with a DOF/Sporting Director. Whoever they end up hiring will be backed to the hilts from January onwards IMO.
  15. Smelly (Erik Sandin) has had an awful lot of, er unique, aliases to say the least. My two favorites are Groggy Nodbeggar and Herb Reath Stinks. Great band NOFX.
  16. When Asprilla rocked up in that coat in the snow.
  17. Exactly the same here. Sitting in Sweden with tears in my eyes these last few hours. Hard to believe it, seems like the love for the club never has left after all. ❤️
  18. Don’t really know what to add. Relieved, excited, a bit torn, thankful, all words that come to mind. Will we finally see the back of MA, of Bruce? What a night!
  19. I’ve been a fan since my father was working over in Newcastle back in the early 90’s. Must have been 1992 or 1993. He bought me a scarf and a hat and after that I was stuck (was pretty easy falling for that team the first few years tbh). Thankfully I’ve lived through the days of KK and Sir Bobby and know what a great club this can be. It’s been a long time since then of course with a few glimpses of dignity sprinkled over a boat load of shit. Sad to see what it’s come to since Ashley took over the reigns but at least I have a memory of what we can and hopefully one day will be again.
  20. Sounds more like a regular weekend at the cottage that.
  21. By jumping face-first into a rock from a cliff? That's a very sound representation of our historical ways I'd say.
  22. Let’s give this a try. BTTS. SOG Benzema 2+, Mount 1+ and Werner 1+ - 9/1
  23. Well, I must be stupid but I can’t for the life of me find a way to pledge from abroad. I’m trying to throw money at this goddammit.
  24. I honestly would forgive Ashley almost everything he’s done (or at least 75% of it) if he pulls the plug on the Brewcie Experiment. My grandad would do a better job than this and he’s been six feet under for 11 years.
