  1. He's had a release clause for what, £75-77m? Getting the deal done for £58-59m seems like rather good value. There is a HUGE upside to him as a player in that he's only getting better. I can see him becoming a superstar under EH tbh. Also nice AF to get another Swede in.
  2. FFS man, I never said anything about him being a good or bad player. I know he did great for Palace first half of last season but I don’t find him endearing enough. For me he’s got the wrong kind of vibe going - much like Gordon. If we’d sign him however he’d be our c*nt and I’d back him to the hilt. Until then, good player with potential but not for me.
  3. Gallagher looks like a totalt c*nt. Him and Gordon are two of the players I can’t stand. For the money we’d get Paqueta right?
  4. In a way it’s a sign of progress. But I’m actually slightly disappointed in that performance. I know that Brighton’s an OK side, I know that it was hot as hell, I know we’re a work in progress but still. Pope had to make a couple of worldies and I can’t remember Sanchez even making one save. We had trouble passing through their press, we had trouble getting the ball to stick upfield and we also were carved open a few too many times for comfort. But, a point here is a good point under the circumstances I suppose and a clean sheet is great. But a few more bodies in attacking positions wouldn’t go amiss to say the least. Hopefully we’ll get what we need the last weeks of the window.
  5. We haven’t been great. But we haven’t been poor either. Some key players playing like they’re drunk though. ASM/Bruno and Joelinton has been below par so far. They’ve set high standards for themselves though. Good thing is we’re still in it and I reckon we nick this 2nd half.
  6. Have a feeling we’ll go there and get a win. They are a well drilled team but so are we nowadays. I think Big Joe and Bruno will swing this in our favor. 0-2 Callum and Bruno with the goals.
  7. Haha! Same here. Fits like a tube top. I won’t subject the wife to that. ?
  8. Don’t have much choice tbh. Unfortunately the last shirt I bought was the 2004/2005 home shirt and I’ve had a few too many beers since that. ?
  9. As of today I’d be happy with 10th and a clear progression in our philosophy and attacking play. As for the cups it’s hard to tell really but as long as we give it a good go and put out teams that threaten the opponents I’m good. If we do manage to get in an attacking signing or two before the deadline I think we can threaten 7th which probably is what I’d want after last season’s finish. As we stand we look a bit light and very sensitive to any injuries in the front 6 positions. Hopefully the club manages to strengthen though, I’d think we’d be in for a really fun season in that case.
  10. Finally time for Gameday again! ? Can’t fucking wait tbh. I love this feeling. Let’s get at them from the start and we’ll demolish them.
  11. They’re probably done before the weekend for broadcasters?
  12. It’s really low for the role isn’t it? Or are the salaries “low-ish” in the area? I’ve a friend who’s a marketing manager for a Swedish ice hockey club who makes twice as much (for a club with a revenue 1/10th of the size of NUFC’s). Strange.
  13. Playing really good so far. I’m psyched for this season. So much to like from staff to owners to players. ?
  14. Anderson certainly looks like he has a certain swagger about him. He’ll break out this season.
  15. If it’s “the calm before the storm” there must be a hell of a storm brewing that’s for sure. I guess I can take some solace from that. ?
  16. I feel the same way tbh. And before anyone gets started that’s not a critique of everything else the owners have done which has been spot on. But I really feel that in order to keep the momentum of positivity from last season a couple of attacking additions would be really helpful.
  17. Bit the bullet and ordered a DHgate special. Home kit with Bruno G on the back. I’m a mess. ?
  18. Don’t get me wrong. He’s a good player. Just not…super exciting in my opinion. There’s just something to be said for a “wunderkind” from abroad from my perspective. ?
  19. Another one for the ”spoiled tag”. I’m not super excited by any of them three. ? There must be cheaper/more exciting alternatives in Europe? If the papers are to be believed (I know) we’re more than a tad PL-leaning at the moment.
  20. Ibanez loves a yellow card. Made a few quid on him last season.
  21. I've no issues at all with the owners taking their time getting bodies in and I do trust them. I also happen to think that we will fill the attacking positions before the window closes in on way or another. All I'm saying is that should the window close today we haven't done "enough" to keep the momentum going IMO. And as @SiLvORsaid I WANT more. The only communicated stuff about ambition is from when the takeover went through and some snippets from a couple of conferences here and there. And it doesn't seem to be "Finishing 10th - 14th". But hey, I maybe wrong. My point is we have a great opportunity to grow and build something really special. And we probably will need to take a shortcut or two along the way. In no way am I advocating unreasonable signings or throwing XX amount of extra millions on players. Squadwise we've upgraded our GK and CB department so far this summer. Hopefully there will be a few attacking signings as well. The foundation is there and we're starting to have a professional setup after so much time of neglect.
  22. I don't consider myself insane or on the wind-up (but I guess that's not for me to decide ). All I'm saying is that should the window close today we have some gaping holes in the squad which should have been fixed. A striker and a winger is really, really needed and if we could somehow sneak a midfielder in as well that'd be an awesome window. That's not taking anything away from the work put in during the January window or the signings made so far. It would be nice though to miss out on the "frustrated at exorbitant prices"/"in line with FFP"-stories that seem to come up with every link. Hopefully we are just keeping our cards close to our chest and will get the required business done. It's not so much the final position in itself that's important. It's more how we look during the season, how we treat the cups and so on. We have a great opportunity to build something special here and ride the wave of good will from the takeover and the second half of the season. Momentum is key and I'd hate to lose that.
  23. I agree. But the noise coming out of the club (if true) isn’t exactly building hype for the “project” either. If we won’t be flexible on transfer fees and won’t be flexible on wages for free transfers (for example) it will take a VERY long time to keep up let alone overtake the other clubs in the top 7-8. No one else seems to care an awful lot about FFP but maybe we’re going for Last Man Standing Trophy Football Edition? My point is that we can’t haggle over every deal (not that I have an idea about any of this). But there’s still a long way to go before the window closes. The positions have to be filled and I have no problems with not paying 60-70 million for each but surely there has to be alternatives out there who are better than the current options? ?
  24. It’s a bit shitty with all these reports of us being frustrated and players being overpriced blah blah blah. Our new owners have done a splendid job this far but if we don’t strengthen in attacking positions they will have failed this summer IMO (that in itself does not make the business we’ve done poor or bad but on the whole). You don’t hear talk of other clubs pleading poverty (except for Barca who seem to be buying players anyways ?) four times a week. It’s a tad embarrassing IMO.
