He's cut down on it recently tbf though, maybe Rafa's had a word with him about it. Whatever he intentionally does on the pitch will be pretty much exactly what Rafa's told him to do. It he hoofs it it's because that's what Rafa's told him to do in that situation. He's not a very good passer so it doesn't make sense him trying to play it along the floor forward to the midfield or across to the other defenders. Doing that is obviously needlessly dangerous.

He's an excellent keeper and apparently a top man and great in the dressing room - he's also a leader too who never shuts up! He's a good, not great keeper and a tosspiece of a bloke. Certainly not a leader or great in the dressing room for England, either.

Gouffran will be contribute fuck all in the PL. If Rafa's the manager I know he is and we have the funds we absolutely should have, he'll be out the door and scratching around in the French second tier by August.

Yep and I've said it before but his aerial ability basically means he becomes a 3rd centre back when the ball gets knocked in from our right hand side. The type of thing is obviously less noticeable than a LB who occasionally skins a couple of opponents before knocking a cross in. Think it's fairly obvious which one Rafa would rather have, though.

Not being very good is another reason, I thought he was fairly good against Huddersfield and he normally makes my eyes bleed watching him so he has it in him to put in a good performance. He's obviously in Rafa's Xl to defend and he does that job very well. When you look at the LBs that've played for us and been at fault for literally goal after goal, it's refreshing to have someone in there who just doesn't let us down. I can think of very few goals scored against us because of poor defending on his side. The problem is, next season we'll have to pick up points at home. We have to or we'll struggle. To do that we need as many players good on the ball as possible. That means (among other alterations) Alsoran and Colback as far from the fucking squad as possible, and ideally a LB with a bit about him going forward. The more I think about it, though, the more I reckon LB will be close to the bottom of Rafa's list of priorities. He's played more games than anyone else this season.

Draw is an OK result. We should be winning the 4 next games though and hopefully our approach to them is a bit less reactive. Murphy and Gouffran should be making way for Gayle and Atsu.

He may well have, but I'd rather we don't see too much more of him starting. Gayle gives us so much more.
