  1. By a mile the best side i've ever seen. I've actually seen more of Barca than any other side in England or Spain this season (not missed a single game as it happens) and they're simply football at it's most advanced and beautiful simultaneously. Perhaps the most impressive thing is the risky football they play pressing so high up the field whilst maintaining a fantastic defensive record. Xavi and Messi are perhaps the greatest players i've had the pleasure to watch regularly.
  2. The reason few regarded Federer as the best of all time was his distinct lack of quality opposition from 03 - 07. You can't apply the same theory to Messi.
  3. Agreed but the crowd getting on his back was self inflicted, people lost patience with him as his mistakes were usually absolute howlers. He also scored two goals that got us into Europe. And the absuse didn't stop.
  4. Barton has 4 in the league and only 2 from open play. It's naive to suggest that we can afford to play a striker that won't get goals.
  5. It's obvious who he'd replace. But as I said, wouldn't have him back.
  6. Only because of Nolan, take him out of the equation and there's a distinct lack of goals.
  7. I wouldn't have him back now, because he'd never be accepted by the c***s that boo off even our best players. I wouldn't have let him leave in 07, though. It was stupid of Allardyce, who spend money on far inferior defenders.
  8. Shola's saving grace has been the amount of managers we've had since Sir Bobby. He should have been shipped out long ago. Sadly, no club was stupid enough to pay money for him.
  9. Well, no. It doesn't. He's the best central defender at an average PL club.
  10. He's more than good enough to come off the bench at this level.
  11. Well, no. That lot have about 18 between them this season.
  12. Routledge has excellent pace, good close control and can strike a ball very well. It's a mistake to give up on him.
  13. Do you actually watch football? Not defending Gomes now because dear me that was a rookie mistake. But saying he's an awful keeper when he kept them in the tie against Milan and he has been the best player on the pitch several times. He's the most inconsistent keeper ever. He's like a rollercoaster, but calling him awful is harsh. A keeper always liable to make a mistake leading to a goal is awful. He's done it 4 times in the last 5 games.
  14. He's a one trick pony, that isn't too good at his one trick. What a load of nonsense. Ryan Taylor is a one trick pony.
  15. So he's had two poor seasons followed by one very good one. Worth a go for free, surely?
  16. Last week. Would you take him? His goal against Wolves was fantastic but I'm not convinced. Of course I would. We'd finally be able to piss Shola off to Burnley.
  17. Look at the thread title, man. The players being mentioned in here obviously need to be compared with our own lot or it all becomes a bit pointless.
  18. Rooney + Hernandez/Berba is the best strikeforce.
  19. Elmander's a class above anything we have here.
  20. Bramble would make at least one a game though, unless it was against Chelsea. What a load of rubbish.
