The Carling Cup is there to be won for clubs like ours. We just haven't been good enough or brave enought to make a decent fist of it in recent years. It's mostly down to management.

It's somewhere between hope and expectation, I suppose. I don't expect us to sign 2 new starting strikers, and Best is easily the pick of the current bunch. He's a player that battles for the ball when we don't have it, then gets straight on the shoulder when we do, and i like that. He can get a lot of goals at this level with the right service.

He seems to be astoundingly mediocre at all the attributes needed to be a top midfielder or at least has been this season. He looks like a weaker, slower-footed version of the fella in your avatar. Better ability on the ball, obvioiusly, but needs far too much time on it. Just goes to show, Big Carlo signing Ramires, SAF bringing in Bebe; they're all human. Ramires has been playing much better of late. Sure, still nowhere near being worth the price that was paid for him, but to say he's been one of the worst in the Premiership when there have been players like Perch is ridiculous. Ramires has come no closer to fulfilling his job description than Perch has to his. I'm not saying Ramires isn't the better player, clearly, but he's been every bit as woeful. Creative players who don't create will never be held up to the same scrutiny as defenders who don't defend well.

I'd really love us to sign an unselfish Bellamy type to play up top with Best.

Don't think it's that amazing, really. They've never won a league title and have only consistently finished in the PL top 4 in the last few years.
