Perch has been written off far too quickly, but sadly that's quite typical of many on here. He started steady and played his part in some good performances, his form dipped and anxiety increased as crowd stopped supporting him. Despite a couple of good games after his return, I see very little between Simpson and Perch. Perch will still play a part this season. I haven't seen Perch have one good game for us.

I always find it interesting that a lot of people rate Beardsley as the best ever Newcastle player and yet never mention him when referring to Dalglish's time as manager. I would say Beardsley getting too old had more to do with the club going downhill than anything else. Shearer's injury, too. Beardsley had a fantastic season in 94-95, absolutely incredible. He started going downhill right after, however. I'd have loved to have seen him in his first stint. Pedro 93-96 is the best player i've ever had the pleasure to witness in b&w.
