It's not based on what he says though. We know for a fact that Souness wanted Anelka and Boa Morte, Souness practically baited Anelka as best as he could through the media. It was also clear that Souness favoured the 4-3-3 system, and wanted Anelka/Morte for that system. As for the Owen bid, that was clearly entirely Shepherd, and I can't see it being any other way. He wanted a big name, big money, long term replacement for Shearer, he wanted the best England had to offer, so he went for Rooney first and foremost, and when that failed, he used the same funds a year later to sign Owen. Souness by that time had been told Anelka was a no-go as Fenerbahce had rejected our no-doubt derisory bid. It was compeltely obvious at the time what happened here without any need for Souness' eventual confirmation of the undermining that occurred. In the press conference Souness said, very smugly, 'when I walked into the Chairmans office and handed him a piece of paper with Michael Owen written on he nearly fell off his seat, but we've done it & got him, and I'm absolutely delighted. Only a few players in the world could replace Shearer and he's one of them'. Granted he might just be saying that, but it hardly looked like he was saying it through gritted teeth. Dont get me wrong I am suspicious about the Boa Morte/Anelka deals and why they didnt happen, what was Shepherd doing etc. Although I agree with Shepherd that everyone was chuffed when we signed him, we had already bought midfielders aswell to supply him. Fair play mate. I'd forgotten Souness said that, lying prick

Speaking of under 21's, Michael Johnson :kasper: To think we offered £8m for him in February, the guy looks unrecognizable, gained so much weight

Hart out of the final, what a cunt

Milner, what a dickhead

All based completely on what Souness said. The man's a liar

The likes of Boumsong and Hughes have found more success than Bramble after leaving this club. Hughes is a solid player who's 30 years old and has finally had 2 good seasons. 2 years ago he was considered poor to average, his ability is nowhere near Bramble's, he just reads the game well. I dont care how you paint it, Boumsong is the classic example of a defender who may perform well on the continent, but has absolutely no place in the premier league, and no english club will ever go near him again.

My uncle played (albeit briefly) for the first team in the 70's and obviously trained with supermac 4 days a week, said he was the quickest player he ever encountered, both in legs and intelligence

could they not just have closed the book on it? if not that's very odd
-
i'd be amazed if most bookies offered you a price on that

How? Andy O'Brien survives in the league and he is woeful. He is woeful but better than Edgar, and plays behind a packed midfield
-
he'll get anihilated

You only had to look at the rest of the defence for players far, far worse who got far less abuse

Imho this would be a to light weighted central midfield, none of them are physical enough to battle in the championship nor good enough to outplay other teams. - Skjelbred has said that he doesnt like playing in a 4-4-2 formation, he likes to play in one of the sides in 4-3-3. He hasnt been his best this season, and startet the game against holland on the bench, behind the likes of Fredrik Winsnes which is utterly crap. The Norwegian Eliteserie is probably a worse league than the championship, so it would be stupid at the moment to pay around 5M for a player that is strugling in norway, wouldnt it? - Many ppl keep praising Guthrie, for me I cant see why? What is really Guthries best position and what is his strenghts? Imo Guthrie isnt a defensive midfielder because he is to lightweighted, he isnt a playmaker either because he is to slow and to ofthen needs to turn around 360' to hit a ball forward. As a winger he is to slow, and isnt good enough to cross the balls in open play, from set pieces he is good. If we take the Villa game as an excample, he didnt look interested and more than often didnt track back to help poor Edgar on the back. The game Butt didnt play because of a red card showed how much we needed a fighter in midfield, the only one we have atm that can fill Butt's place is Joey Barton, but that would be a HUGE gamble. I think Butt lost us a fair share of points last season especially with all the penalties he made against us the start of the campaign, but we need a fighter like him in the Championship. Keep him one more season till we are back up, but allready now buy a young player who can challange him for his spot in the team. We need Butt as far away from nufc as possible BTW why do playmakers need pace?

to be honest, as funny as it was seeing Spain get beaten by the USA, that referee got at least 10 of the most basic decisions wrong. When did the USA start diving? f***ing embarassing
