I am positve that Drogba is sending replica shirts to kids in civil war torn Ivory Coast. Drogba has used his publicity at Chelsea to become a peace broker of sorts. He was successful in getting international games staged in the Rebel capital and that went a long way to opening up a way to peace. It was a funny article but a bit mischievous indeed, Drogba does a ridiculous amount for kids in the Ivory Coast f****** pricks who write s*** like this. It's clear Drogba has never given a rat's arse about his popularity with the Chelsea fans. Anyone remember him squaring up to that prick after his goal against Arsenal in 05-06 To be fair, the article does point out that if all he wanted to do was send shirts home, he could ask the club and get them for free. not an unlimited amount though, honestly who gets paid to put a stupid spin on shit like this

Thats not true, all we had to do was be ambitious and appoint a good manager, a la Liverpool then and Spurs now. indeed a good manager who would have brought in some good talent, got rid of Shearer, kept Bellamy and Robert....

Owen scoring in crucial matches is a myth. In international tournaments his record is shambolic How is it a myth? off the top of my head... vs Argentina 98 (goal + pen) vs Brazil 02 vs Arsenal FA Cup Final (2 goals) vs Man Utd Charity Shield vs Portgual 04 (goal + pen) Euro 00 - one goal WC 02 - two goals Euro 04 - one goal 06 isn't worth mentioning against good defenders he's always been distinctly average at best That Euro 2000 team was a disgrace and got knocked out early. To say he was poor is unfair. He was probably at his peak during the years surrounding 2002. An Owen from 2001-2004 was very good. By the time he moved to Madrid he'd lost a yard but was still pretty quick. my point was for a players whose main strength is supposed to be goals, his record in tournaments is a disgrace

How about an unfit, unmotivated Viduka up front with Oba? Seeing as that's the more likely option. i know it's more likely, which is why i said 'what i wouldn't give....'
-
what i wouldn't give for a fit motivated Viduka up front with Oba for the rest of the season with Owen on the bench and Butt/Smith nowhere fucking near

My hobbyhorse this. I'd drop him. The only way you can play Owen is just off a big centre forward in an old-fashioned 4-4-2. What we really need is a striker like Bellamy or Beardsley who can drop deeper and link creatively with the midfield. Besides, now that Owen has lost his pace, his value as a specialist finisher is diminished. If we keep playing him, we'll go down IMO. I've always thought that Shepherd behaved badly on our behalf, when he as good as forced Owen to join us when it was clear he didn't want to do it. There's a sad element of poetic justice if that's a decision which turns out to blow up in our face. bollocks tbh, played brilliantly alongside fowler, raul and morientes. yet never looked good alongside shearer for england, and was not all that great alongside heskey his best form came alongside Heskey, to say otherwise is ridiculous
