Gullit's a brilliant football mind and a honourable man. Like Keegan he wants his football to be played a certain way, which unfortunately was totally at odds with the playing staff of late 90s NUFC. The decision to sack him was obviously completely vindicated by who we replaced him with.

So Carver, as a certified assistant to the assistant was happy to stand up to Ruud Gullit 16 years ago but he's now, as head coach, prepared to spread his cheeks every week for Lee Charnley? Aye, lying cunt. -
He's actually too stupid to realise how out of his depth he is. I bet he has framed pictures of the defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea in his bedroom.

Ha. 'Fuck are yee lukin at m8?'

As if the difference between managing in the Championship and Premier League comes down to the opinion of a few fans. Utter garbage.
-
One club according to the ever-reliable Daily Star. You must be right.
-
McCarthy owns that league, to be fair. He worked an absolute miracle at Wolves and has done extremely well so far at Ipswich.
-
the lad started out suggesting there are reasons other than ability he's not been offered PL jobs, you then cited gary megson as an example of why this isn't correct and that he's not getting jobs because he's not very good Gary Megson is an example of the shit managers who get appointed each year in the Premier League to absolutely no fan revolt of any kind. Yet to say that McClaren hasn't been employed as a PL manager for almost a decade is solely because fans wouldn't accept him post-England? Guff. It's an absurd suggestion and it should've been very clear what I meant. Thanks for making me waste my time reiterating it again.
-
I'm not even sure what you're getting at now. The conclusion that he isn't that good (I think he's 5/10 medicore) is based on what I've seen from his teams over the past 12 years or so, and what I was repeatedly told by level-headed Boro fans when I lived there. The fact he's not managed in the PL since the England job has nothing to do with potential supporter disgruntlement and everything to do with the fact that if you were a somewhat ambitious chairman wanting good football and good results, you may not disregard him totally, but you'd look elsewhere first. To reiterate, and I hope this is the last time I have to do it, it's an absolutely nonsensical assertion that the reason he's managing Derby County in the Championship is because PL fans wouldn't accept him.
-
I'm sorry, Mojo, but read a few posts properly and you won't come to such an absurd conclusion. The argument that McClaren is managing in the Championship because Premier League fans would 'backlash' against him being appointed is ridiculous given the absolute shower of shite who've managed in the PL since he left Boro in '06.
-
He's only considered damaged goods by supporters. In the game he is highly rated. He's managing in the Championship man. Warnock, Di Canio, Poyet.. Pardew, Sherwood, have found jobs when he's been available. Definitely damaged goods. Clubs have been reluctant to hire him because of potential backlash from supporters. Meanwhile the likes of Gary Megson have been appointed to Premier League jobs to colossal fanfare. McClaren hasn't been given a PL job because he's not that good. It's that simple.

Presuming it's the same one, we saw The Bodyguard in the West End 2 year ago. It was brilliant, to be honest.
-
What makes Colback captaincy material? I know he's not Coloccini but there's nine other players who have that qualification. Nothing. He isn't. Nobody said he was.
-
Just pointing out that we already have the worst captain in the league.
-
Let's be honest, as average as he is, he'll be captain one day. I couldn't care less. 'Fabricio Coloccini club captain next season' is a far worse proposition. At least Colback isn't at fault for conceding goals and awful on-field leadership every week.
-
His standard being inferior to which unnamed English winger(s) exactly? Nothing but shit. All you ever talk.
-
That would've involved him turning up to training at 10AM most mornings. Fack that for a larff, said David.
-
That's unfortunately completely irrelevant to us.
-
Should have won that. By miles the better side when the Jones and Delph 'experiment' was scrapped.
-
He's a very talented and promising player. Just a shame he's a total cunt.
-
There's a slim chance Carver will be in charge at the start of next season but thankfully no chance he'll keep the job for longer than 3 months. 2 wins out of 12 from 0 points has you 18th and below. To be honest, I see us finishing 14th this season. I think he'll be back where he belongs messing around with the kids.

To me, England represents a welcome break from an emotional investment in exclusively shit football.
-
Arsenal are underachieving and over-prioritising profit and loss in a sense but the obvious response to that idiot is to point out they won a cup less than a year ago and are likely to win one again this season.
-
I think he started once or twice for them in the PL and never again.
