100%. Small risk for a massive reward. I think back to Leicester in 2016 on a different scale. They were extremely well drilled and hard to beat but were able to take advantage of teams losing points around them because they won the tight games instead of coming away with a plucky point. Having our own Mahrez would be huge.

I can guarantee there’s no long term plan for Joelinton to play on the left. He’s too often ineffective there.

We’re far too reliant on Trippier for dead balls, mind. Tells it own story that no one from the front 6 is trusted over them. Definite priority in January when we look at midfielders, and I think Howe will target a more mobile upgrade on Shelvey, who’s likely made his last start for us.

He’s a workhorse with a great engine, solid basics and was born in an NE postcode too, whatever that’s worth. He also wouldn’t be starting games regularly for any other side in the top 8/9.

The signing of (and persistence with) Wood is my only real issue with Howe, who’s otherwise done an incredible job. He’s the type of striker that we wouldn’t have gone near even in the Hughton / Pardew / McLaren days.
