Not a criticism of Howe to say Emery is a more accomplished coach - of course he is. Howe's done great with what he has here but we're still relying on some very mediocre players who in theory shouldn't be near the top 4. 5 wins out of 6 is brilliant.

One of the reasons we need to spend money in the summer is to hold onto players like that. He’s far too good to share a pitch with Murphy, Longstaff, Burn etc. He is genuinely going to be the best forward we’ve ever seen here before long.

The point is Bellamy regularly gets cited as a reason he lost his job. I just think it’s bollocks. Bellamy is a prick but he was a huge factor in us staying at the top end of the table for 3 seasons.

Shearer storming off the pitch and publicly challenging Bobby at that pre-season game against Celtic was as bad and probably worse. No one says fuck all about that - and he was club captain.
