Thing is, if I was Sven Botman or Bruno and at a club ‘owa the moon’ to finish 8th given the utter shit club likely to finish 5th, 6th or 7th in that scenario, I’d probably be on the phone to my agent the Monday after the final fixture. We won’t keep players with that level of ambition unless we’re fulfilling it or genuinely look like doing so.

We simply don’t have enough goals in the team, and up front with Isak still acclimatising and Wilson perennially injured or carrying a knock, we are woefully short. I mean woefully. The draws are papering over the cracks a bit but 3 goals in 6 games in the league is really shit. I’m not sure what the answer is but the front 3 needs a serious evaluation.

If we’re not winning the midfield battle we need a striker who can receive, keep, lay it off then attack the ball in. It’s not him, or Wilson for that matter.

We missed a target up front today. I’m not suggesting going route 1 but we could with do that as an option sometimes. Would really help us condense the play when we can’t dominate the midfield pivot.

I think he’ll soon be a nailed on starter for at least the remainder of this season. Can see straight off why Howe wanted him. Quick and direct, always loving to move / receive, will chase down everything and looks like he has enough between his ears to make the *right* pass. Howe player all the way.

Big difference between being ungrateful for how much we’ve improved and recognising the sliding doors potential of grabbing top 4 (or not) this season.
