He's not mediocre at all, like. He's slow, very weak, a poor tackler, has a poor goal return and is very poor under pressure. He's a decent passer and crosser of the ball. How that makes him a great talent, I don't know. Living off the back of a few assists thanks mainly to Andy Carroll.

So it's a positive that we're in a position that 'many other teams' are in after finishing 5th and spending far less than the newly promoted teams? Honestly, Ian, even for you. Bowyer was our best attacking midfielder in the hugely depressing 04-05 and decent 05-06. A big reason we stayed up after the former and got 7th with the latter. Not his fault we didn't take advantage of that.

He has a need to be constantly at the centre of attention, something his talent can't achieve.
