It's certainly better if they delay it till next season. The more money they give O'Neil to waste on players, the harder it would be for them to rebuild after the inevitable relegation. Sunderland have been horrendously mismanaged during the Short 'era'. Can't believe the amount of people on that god-awful board who still think of him as "the best chairman in the league". So far he has shown he is unable to restructure the club in a sustainable manner. They are still massively overpaying in fees and salaries, in order to attract low-calibre players. I'd be very interested to read their accounts and specifically the amount the club owns to Short. Surely he can't keep on throwing 20/30 million a season with no prospect of return.

Good, it was very important for both the club and the player to not pull out any amateurish s*** over this. After so much time, covering for Williamson's inadequacy, playing next to the commanding and aggressive MAPOU will surely be some sort of a boost for Colo. I'm a bit concerned about their communication on the pitch though. That's important for central defenders.

More than 40 times. Every single one of which was lost. I counted. And I admire your love for objectivity Ian, but there's no point defending that. Turn on the TV, put whatever game from whatever championship on and you'll see better fluidity and attacking patterns. Our team is fairly determined, most of the time the players give their all, but what we play is not football. The blame is on Pardew and the staff.
