I've always said that we must avoid injury-prone players like plague but getting Hargreaves (the ultimate king of crocks) might not be the worst gamble.. as long as the contract is heavily incentive-based. If he's fit, he'd be an improvement on Simpson at RB and good cover for Tiote.. 2 rabbits with one shot.. or is it two birds - one stone?

Won't be too fussed if we miss on Erdinc like. His strength and work rate could be an asset for us but I wouldn't pay more than 5-6m for that..

Agree with every line. Or rather, I share the same concerns. And I'm a bit worried whether we have underestimated Barton and Nolan's on-field contribution too. Both bring a lot of determination and general leadership on the pitch and they both had great seasons.. I don't think it's realistic to expect Cabaye and say, Barnetta to be an improvement on that.. even if they hit the ground running. Hope I'm wrong obviously

I'd be delighted with Ba for the poacher role but I'm not too keen on Erdinc and Barnetta tbh. Especially if we get rid of Barton / don't sign another (better) winger or forward.

Freiburg have signed Garra Dembele from Levski Sofia (36 goals in 39 games last season) today. A local (Bulgarian) newspaper mentions that he'll replace their goalscorer Papiss Cisse (22 goals, 2nd highest in the Bundesliga), who is apparently "set to move to Newcastle in the next few days". Gomis is turboshit like. Good at bullying defenders but his touch is awful and he misses often. Sometimes he gets lucky and scores but apart from his physique there's very little to justify the amount Lyon paid for him. If the mackems have really offered 10 million for him, I reckon Lyon will snap their hand off
