I’m finding this crazy, really surprised from Howe. Barnes is much more of a goal scoring threat from that left side, given Howe always talks about what’s best for the team this is really surprising.

I think he controlled the game a lot better than Tonali was (in that moment). I like him but suspect we’ll not see him at his very very best until next season. Totally right about when he was robbed too 👍

I don’t really remember this pre-Howe performances that much but I think that’s the worst I’ve seen him play in the last few years. Everything broke down on the right hand side because of him in the first half. I was amazed he wasn’t taken off.

Best player on the pitch, I can’t get my head around how he’s just casually become an absolutely top class right back. I remember thinking against Marseille that Howe had lost the plot, shows how much I know.

Maybe sometimes you just have an ‘off’ season? We’re only just halfway through it. Does every single season have to be a massive success? Are we not patient enough to tolerate a season of mediocrity? (If that’s even what it turns out to be - we’re still in every competition!).

I do think the fine margins have gone against us this season. So many of them. There’s still half a season to go, we need to start winning games to gain confidence. The next 4 look very winnable, great opportunity to build momentum… (although I did think that before last night too 😅)
