ill go for the same as last season, so i guess that is a no.

Id like to see him do 3 full seasons. with us being consistent in the transfer market and keeping the new policy of finding promising youngsters. Consistency is the key, and if we can keep the team, and by team i mean the club as a whole , together, i think we could have some good times again.

Mines arrived! no offers or anything like, not even a magpie mover form !!! -
yep, we could do much better
-
Nah he's our best defender but not our best player. We have two of the best keepers in the prem. Kevin Nolan is most likely our best Midfielder and as for our striker well, Super Kev and Elmander two of the best???

hasnt stopped raining for past few days. well, on and off anyway. -
Man U was a bonus point, Bolton is a game we'd be looking to get 3 points from. I hope our failure to sign a striker so far isn't going to start costing us points. Fans urged to take seats early?! Help it the tickets has come through the door like!

Stuart Downing or Dean Ashton.

That idiot is quite a successful businessman to be fair. He's making a rats arse of this business. examples please? hahaha dennis wise on the BOARD. trying to sell the club, lying about it, then getting oun out. expecting top 4 with journeymen pro's. allowing his business to fail in a fundamental area, the result being people will need t o pay more to travel to a game, and maybe queue far longer due to the inability to have a business capable of doing its basic job. is this a wind up? -
didnt believe the Sun before i boycotted it, dont believe it now. Toon Insider eh???

very impressed, looks very comfatable on the ball. Looking forwad to seeing more of this fella.

Bluffing I think to ty and get Zenit to lower their price. Sell Milner and put the money towards this lad, having him and Jonas down the wings would be awesome. i said a few weeks ago i wouldnt want him for that price, but if we have the money and we have a chance then it would actaully be amazing. Him linking up with Jonas, Martins Owen could be lethal.

Fabricio Coloccini signed from Deportivo La Coruña on 5 year deal

think its fairly obvious he started shaky, dont think anyone would begrudge him that, but once he was settled he started to command. Won a ouple of cracking headers. Him and Jonas = future heroes! -

unlucky fella! Dirty Everton cost me!

Sir Alex Ferguson is quietly confident of adding a new face to his dressing room before the close of the transfer window but when you already have Europe's best squad at your disposal, there is less need to worry than most. While Ferguson remains a model of calm and optimism ahead of the new campaign there is a nervous energy in the Toon air amid talk of takeovers and a dwindling interest shown by owner Mike Ashley. Keegan has made no secret of his desire for more new signings but on Sunday he'll have to appease himself by handing out debuts to Fabricio Coloccini and the exciting winger Jonas Gutierrez. http://msnsport.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_3981952,00.html

Plus how exactly do they guarantee we'll get in? Does that mean we'll have a bunch of stewards with those hand held contraptions trying to find us on a database like the shambles of the Barnsley Cup match last season when loads of people, myself included, couldn't get in as our cards weren't working? Maybe they will just send normal tickets instead? -

Good post, sums up my thoughts and I didn't know that about Bassong's age. Cacapa by no stretch of the imagination is a PL def. dont think he's bad defender to be fair. Made a good impression start of last season, and after one game (where he was carrying an injury if i remember correctly) he got hammered. Was playing in a piss poor team that gave him/back 5 no protection at all. Not 1st choice, but not a bad back up. He's a good defender technically, but a bit lightweight for the Premier. Faye, in contrast was probably less good technically, but very strong and dominant. yep, id agree with that.

defintely think teams will under estimate us, i hope we can prove them wrong.

quite excited to see who we are going to bring in.

that what i am concerned... i felt we could do more than that window hasnt closed. true... but future is blur... signing player on window closing prone to get caught by panic buying well, maybe. (Beye suggests otherwise, but i catch your drift) however there is still a full two weeks to go, not just one day.

ha, thats really good. They should give you a job at the Sun. Better written than half the shite they print!
-
That's what i was arguing. Even if he wanted to be away, we should have been compensated properly for losing a first team defender with Premiership experience. £3-4m would have been more like it. I don't get how transfers work these days. If we were willing to sell him why don't the club announce that he is on the transfer list? At least then there may have been some competition for his signature pushing the value up. how do you know he wasnt touted round by his agent to all clubs and no one else wanted him? I don't but a lot of transfers seem to happen with everyone knowing a player is available e.g. Bentley. We only seem to find out ours are leaving at the last minute when it's 99% done e.g. Emre, Faye, etc. tbh the club like doing things without announcing it to the press, thats for all to see. So im sure he was offered to clubs behind closed doors if you like.
