This really. I hate right-footers on the left and vice versa, but Mbabu has looked light years ahead of Dummett. Haidara, whilst having his own flaws, is also a much better option. The way we play is with Janmaat bombing forward to offer genuine width and one of the CMs dropping in to cover for him. Dummett cannot do the same on the other side but if we had someone who could, we'd be a much better team.

He played really well today and did his job extremely well. He'll have to do that a lot more though before I think of him as anything other than a complete liability.

This for me. I've wanted to see him on the left for ages, and if he can run at people and cross with Mirtovic to aim at then we'll do well. Wijnaldum can then play in the middle. God knows we're crying out for a decent central midfielder, yet we've got 2 of them on the wings.

Yep, this. Why do you want forwards and wingers to be running chasing balls and tracking back all the time? Sure, sometimes you have to get back but in general they should save their energy for running towards the opposition goal, not running away from it.

Yeah I want to see Thauvin on the left wing and Wijnaldum in the middle. We're always going to play 2 sitting midfielders though as the idea is for one of them to cover a fullback who bombs forward whilst the other stays central to protect the defence. Unless we abandon that idea, which I suspect we won't, then it'll be 2 DMs and that rules out Wijnaldum or at least renders him very ineffective if he took up that role. He could play the Perez role of course, but then that means replacing Perez.
