  1. It was pretty dissimilar. That was to their own fans, not a player from their rivals.
  2. In case Carroll gets on. I think Shola did decent in the Shearer/Bellamy/Bobby days. Decent back-up striker for a CL team, probably decent first for a mediocre Prem at the time.
  3. Can someone do a mock-up of what the current strip will look like with the new deal? (Don't want those photoshoppers to be disappointed).
  4. I'd be okay with this. Unless he's really gone downhill, I think he could be a decent squad player at this level, and good influence. It would be great if he was with us for promotion. And I expect (hope) it's only til the end of the season and he won't expect first team football.
  5. O'Neill was born in Kilrea, N.Ireland, which makes him a citizen of the UK - for now.... His family WERE Nationalist, but that doesn't matter because he still holds a UK Passport - unless he has changed Nationality without telling anyone. He also holds the OBE, and if he really did have strong Nationalist feelings, he wouldn't have accepted that....would he ! Being a citizen of the United Kingdom is not the same thing as being British. Here's a link to Martin O'Neill delivering a talk on "What it means to be Irish": http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2008/1231/martinoneillpresidentiallecture_av.html Brian Clough once said ; 'If your Auntie had balls, she'd be your uncle...!' O'Neill holds a UK Passport - end of story, despite what anyone says - there are plenty of Ulstermen who are rightfully proud of being Irish, but they wouldn't relinquish their British citizenship. Ditto Welshmen and the majority of Scots...... UK citizenship – citizenship of "the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" – is not the same as being British, and no amount of wilfull ignorance on your part will change that fact. What does it say for citizenship on his passport then? Genuine question. Because it says British for me. EDIT: Addressed by Greg. As I thought, it's true he's not from the island of Britain, he is British.
  6. Disrespecting SBR? The thing at the Nou camp? EDIT: Boro? I have a vague recollection of that now, but I was out the country at the time. Please remind me.
  7. He was a bit lazy as a player but i'm unsure as to why he's a 'horrible little twat'?
  8. No. If you did, then we won a cup in 93.
  9. This! They're such thoughtless dickheads! What the hell, man?! Changing games from a weekend to week night makes a big difference to people. I can't go now. I'm missing Forest and West Brom, our too closest teams.
  10. Don't think it's dropped in that time, it's dropped due to the fact it was 3rd round FA Cup, replay, against Plymouth, on a Wednesday and we played a half reserve team in the first game. I wasn't there because it's a Wednesday.
  11. Going to be well exciting for an outsider if WBA beat us.
  12. Bad game for this I'd have thought, being a Monday. It's one of the few games I can't/am not going to. (I also thought it looked more full v Derby!)
  13. Certainly don't want mackems. I don't wish for humiliation.
  14. I've always thought Leeds's name would get back them back settled as a prem team in the medium term. Can't really rationalise though. Partly, their name should help them get players and maybe a rich owner. I think if I was a player I'd rather be at Leeds than Barnsley, even if the latter are higher.
  15. Never cared less about the FA Cup. Don't want to get distracted, but then maybe it could be good for confidence.
  16. Well it's made no difference because nothing has happened. They don't seem to have changed the name, it say St James everywhere official.
  17. Actually , I think that might be mine. I dont think I've heard as many people all go 'AAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!' and then piss themselves laughing, all at the same time. I still love the photo too. Photo? Can you put it up? One of my funniest moments.
  18. Zog's first to mind. Had his qualities, but I remember even his 'best' phase, when he scored a few goals, including the mackem one, he'd been rubbish for the most part, but apparently had been great.
  19. I think, because it's realistic that we could get back to being a mediocre midtable prem team, as we were before Ashley's arrival. However, it'll be virtually impossible for us to get back where we were before Bobby left.
  20. a few weeks on and it still makes me laugh haha. the resemblance is uncanny (personality wise, too). megson is terrible, the fans hated him from the start, he's boring a nd his team is struggling.....why did this take so long?? Because he saved them from relegation when he first went there.
  21. I thought Jenas was really good when he first came. I had no. 7 on my shirt, then i started peeling it off when he did that stupid handball at Highbury.
  22. Why do people think Shearer wanted Bobby out? They've always spoken highly of each other. With Lisbon, I remember Shola getting a goal disallowed in the home game too. Hit his arm, but it was across his body, never thought it shouldve been given as a handball.
  23. I think it's a myth Shearer's dropping had anything to do with Bobby going. I remember arguing at school before the game that he should try dropping him for Kluivert/Bellamy.
  24. Roeder got sacked the week before.
  25. Ferdinand, then Bellamy. As has been said, Les was probably less of a partnership than just two goal machines, but still. Bellamy probably revitalised Shearer. He was pretty poor at Coventry, a lot were surprised we signed him after that spell. He was appalling at St James.
