I went to Milburn reception after the game. It's true that a lot were charvers and most were very young. At least they were doing something - why is it only the youths? You'd think they'd be least bothered. I thought the stand-up/sit-down chants were good. There were some I didn't join in with about Ashley dying, and Shearer in. Also didn't like Peterbrough players getting stick, but overall, glad they were there. Started at reception, then suddenly people started running up towards where the cars leave.

could you please explain how a giant screen will be great? I'm not having a go, just personally I see little to no benefit. I assumed he was being sarcastic about the screen.

You're such a card. Who'd would've thought of using an inaccurate stereotype Sky have perpetuated against there own fans? I'm just joking about that bit really, is a bit true though, most of my mates talk absoulte bollocks as does my dad, my dad thinks Nicky Butt should start for the experience for example. ONly people I hear that talk sense really are on here. You're taking the piss, aye? I don't agree with most supporters either. If I had my way i'd have Jonas taken out the back of the training ground and beat with a stick until he learned how to float in a decent cross although i've realised i'm in a minority. I, like you, have also suffered an earbashing at the hands of one of the few Nicky Butt fans still out there (it might've been your Dad. If so tell him he's a c***). Do these experiences mean I'm against fan ownership? No, because I respect the fact that they, like me, have a vested emotional (and if NUST get their way, financial) interest in the club. I'd much rather disagree with people who I know have put their time and money into this football club over the years rather than a bloated billionaire with no attachment. Aye, was a slight jest. I'm not saying I wouldn't have this over Ashley, I just don't think it will work A) I don't think they'll raise the money. B) Do any of these people havea clue about running a 300M investment. C) We'll make Kneejerk and rash decisions and we'll spend whatever money we raise in the first window. That's fair enough I suppose. They're all valid reasons to be unsure about any potential fan takeover. I see it this way - if they don't make enough money then there is no harm done so it's not really something to worry too much about. To combat the last two points I personally would be hoping the fans would elect a President ala Barca. When 'fan ownership' is uttered I think a lot of people assume Paul from Row M suddenly is going to be given the day to day running of the club and that's that. In reality I imagine we'd see a Newcastle fan with the knowledge and personal experience, someone like Barry Moat or Graham Wylie, voted in and given a set term running the club. Obviously i'm not involved with any of this work so it's all speculation on my part but that's personally how I see it working. From what it sounds like it does infer that members will all have avote on major decisions. I would be happy with this structure if it was basically run like a normal football club where the Chairman basically makes most of the decisions but is answerable to the board. Personally I don't think it matters whether the Chairman is from Newcastle either in fact I'd prefer if he wasn't, I'd like someone who has already been a chairman or MD before like David Dein (Dreamworld). I think a freh perspective would help. I can't see the 'vote on every issue' thing being workable in the real world. It takes too long. Maybe for stuff such as kit supplier, sponsors, pie and pint prices etc. but not for transfers and the like. I suppose we'll not know the full details until Monday, possibly later. Yeah I know day to day decisions wont be made like that but say manager changes will, I just think itll be kneejerktastic tbh, like I said we'll get through so many managers. Our high management turnover over the past few years was due to mistakes by the board rather than fan pressure. Robson - Sacked at the wrong time. Majority of fans wanted him to stay. Souness - Wrong man from the start, played poor football and ruining a top 6 team. Arguable whether the fans played a part. Roeder - Wrong man again. Fans liked him and sung his name while protesting against Freddy. Sacked at the right time but it was a surprise to most fans. Big Sam - Came in during the takeover and despite the poor football got very little abuse. Save for the duo within view of the Sky cameras against Liverpool he seemed to be well liked and his name was still being sung come Stoke. Keegan - We know what happened there. The thing with voting for a new manager is that they need to want to come to us. I've no doubt we'll have some who'll want Keegan and some Mourinho but lets be realistic, they're never going to get what they want are they? Exactly. I just blew my top with some Arsenal fan who claimed he had no sympathy because it was all our own fault, for driving managers out and always demanding Keegan be made manager, and for wanting Shearer to stay in after the summer. I was at Sam's last game at Stoke, and my last memory of him as Newcastle manager is walking down the tunnel right by the toon fans clapping and getting clapped, after a terrible performance.
-
It still says St James Park on nufc.co.uk in the next match bit.
-
The thing about chanting too fast is so true. I love the classic Toon Toon, and it's great when it goes on for ages, but it can't these days because it quickly becomes impossibly fast. I remember away at PSV we did it for at least half an hour, constant.

Dickhead bastards. I can't make it back from Monday night games. So now I miss the 'top of the table' (hopefully) clash. Already missing Preston cos they changed it to a Monday. Why the hell does it have to be Mondays? Surely they can squeeze in another weekend game. I mean what about the West Brom fans? Dickheads

I don't think anybody is critcising you for supporting the team.

Did you even read the True Faith article? Yes. So? If you're implying that I'm saying NUST must do everything for me, I'm not. But I think it's their responsibility to organise a protest, as in, where and when. These things need organisation, and to an extent it must be top-down. Like the Russian revolution, it might involve the people and all, but you need a Trotsky. Where is it? 1pm outside the milburn entrance and a stay back protest after the game. Its been organised and I am sure both True Faith and .com have mentioned it on their sites. Okay, thanks, I've not seen it, looked on nufc.com. Will struggle to be there much before game as i'm coming from edinburgh quite late, but i will be there after until i need to get my train back.

Where? Has one been arranged. If NUST or NUFC.com or whoever publish an arranged protest, yes I will. Sporadic protests will not work.
-
We were relegated by Christmas? If you want to be honest, any manager with an ounce of tactical sense, i.e. not Shearer would have kept us up in those last 8 games. Ashley made w*** decisions but I want to know what protesting achieved. It didn't get the club sold for a start, I don't care if 'Oh well it got it on the market'. It didn't get it sold. But you're being completely idiotic. It got us for sale. The fact it's not sold is separate. Surely you can see that. If Obama died as soon as he got into office before doing anything, it doesn't mean his election campaign is not successful.
-
I don't debate the need got him to leave but, answer my question. What will a protest on his shop or the stadium achieve? I use the last protests as the perfect benchmark. They achieved absolutely nothing, the club wasn't sold, keegan wasn't brought back. They kind of did. The club was instantly put up for sale. The fact it wasn't sold is a separate issue.

Stops me looking like an utter fool by needlessly protesting against somebody whom it has already proven it will not affect at all. But no, we have to do it to show others that we will not stand for it. Why the f*** we should care what other people think about is like, it's not like they don't just make their own opinions anyway! i thought the first protest forced ashley to publicly put the club up for sale no sorry that was you keeping your arse warm! There was a lot out there protesting against Ashley I was supporting the team. There was the same result - he's still here afterall. Jonny Hall confirms himself as the most apathetic, fence sitting apologist ever to post on here! Jonny must be so proud he took the higher ground I'm not taking the higher ground, I'm just refusing to put my efforts into something that clearly won't work. It's been proven in the past that the great fat one doesn't respond to protests and boycotts and whatever, he's greedy and he's smug and will just laugh at any resistance to his plans. When? HE'S STILL HERE. Although they've been on a smale scale, there have been no indications that he'd be 'scared' into selling the club. If there was, he'd have sold for pennies when he first put the club up, or when he put it up in the summer. He hasn't been subjected to either of those things on any sort of scale, never mind small. A few hundred outside after two games last season, f*** me, it's hardly Tiananmen Square. Shepherd got far worse. f*** knows why. If the stadium was absolutely empty, not a soul in but the away fans, he would absolutely s*** himself. That's debatable. If he really wanted bums on seats, he'd have made a signing (either player or manager) to appease the fans. He knows that a Shearer appointment for example would guarentee people in the ground every week. Plus he's already got the money from season tickets so half of people not turning up is pointless. It may make him s*** himself, but all he would do is put us back on the market where he'd f*** around with it all for another few months before taking it back off and making some ridiculous commitment statement. It's a never-ending roundabout. We just have to face it, he will only leave when he gets off his fat arse and makes the moves, we can't make him do anything. Why would he need to make a signing to appease the fans and get bums on seats? He's made a profit on transfers and he's getting 44,000 in watching us play Doncaster Rovers. He thinks we're f***ing stupid and will take anything as long as it's wrapped in a black and white shirt and he might just be right. I never thought I'd see Newcastle United fans just lie down and take such treatment with the pathetic whimper we have. What's most depressing is that it's taken this talk of the name change to get people's backs up - he even managed to get us relegated without anyone kicking up a fuss ffs. What has happened to us? Well said. But I must admit I've done little. We need proper big unified protests. This is where the NUST must step up. I'll protest on Saturday if I have confidence we'll be in the same place etc. I'd be up for a boycott of a match too, as I was for Hull, but it needs to be publicised heavily, otherwise it will just be a lower than normal attendance.
-
Has a protest actually been arranged yet? I've yet to seen any detials

My god. How can Ashley become more unpopular? People hate him for putting the naming rights up for sale, and people say they'll hate whoever takes up the offer. And he's gone and taken it up!
-
It's alright lads, we're getting a big screen with the name.
-
Did you write to your MP when Ashley was ripping apart the Club, did they debate his destructive ownership in the commons ? This is so f***ing ridiculous, that something so inconsequential, and trust me the naming of a bloody football stadium is inconsquential, gets people off their arses to act more than all the s*** we've had to put up with for the last year or so. Surely you realise they're quite different situations. What are the gov't. going to do about poor management?
-
Good one, their songs are brilliant as well, best in the business Aye, used this one a few times as well to catch out people I know who claim to like football but don't really know anything about it. Always go for the standard "gloryseekers" line without knowing that their away fans can be f***ing awesome. I agree to an extent, but part the reason they have the numbers is they often don't have to travel because they're located all over. You do see flags like 'Hartlepool Reds'.

It is the NEWCASTLE name above the door but 7 local authorities have shares totaling 51% & it is South Tyneside Council who act as the lead authority & it is Sunderland who own the most shares within that 51%. Fair enough, but either way, we'll be sharing a small airport amongst other things, so I'd be surprised if they'd give it to both of us.
-
Wouldn't have thought they'd have Newcastle and Sunderland, especially since Newcastle is half of Sunderland's bid. They would be relying on our rail and air links, and probably accommodation too.

I didn't know he'd left Madrid. Can't have much of a (good) reputation left now.

So was wondering what our winning formula has been this season so far, atleast upfront as we have a lot of options now. Looked up the statsss & thought it was interesting. So here is the result: (this is based on these lineups staying like this for atleast 40 mins & what the results would have been in that time ignoring the rest of teh game.) So out of all of our wins. We've played Ameobi & Carroll upfront together twice and won twice. We've played Ameobi upfront alone once and won once. We've played Ranger upfront alone twice and won twice. We've played Carroll upfront alone twice & lost twice. We've played Carroll & Ranger upfront together 3 times, won Twice & drawn once. We've played Harewood & Lovenkrands together once and drawn once. Harewood & Carroll twice, lost once & drawn once. So based on the limited amount of info we have so far the answer is...... Dont play carroll upfront alone. Ranger upfront alone, Ameobi & Carroll or Ranger & Carroll is where we've had all of our wins. Lineups we havent used atall the past 3 games. <<< We should probably give Ranger/Carroll some time upfront together again. The last two games before QPR we played them together we scored 6 goals in two games. Then against QPR were unlucky - Missing a pen & them getting a deflected goal. Either that or Ranger & Harewood who havent had much real time together, but probably makes more sense to start with a lineup we've actually won games with. ? Surely it should be taken to account that in one of Carroll's solo games that we lost, he scored. I was away during the Ameobi era, but from what we've available now and what i've seen, i'd go with Carroll and Ranger. Carroll's looked the most threatening from what i've seen, and then Ranger, even though he's not scored.
