I was a fan during the 95-96 season, but I don't remember any great pain at not winning the league. I was a bit disappointed, but I think having only really been aware of 1, maybe 2 seasons I just kind of thought we'd always be around there and we'd win it next year How many went to their first game in full kit? I went to mine after a friend's birthday party, I remember changing into top (95 asics blue star) and the white shorts to go to the game.

How did you know when he was upset like? And why did his mood make you so angry? ;D thats canny funny, but i think he meant sold I did indeed. I wrote I was upset first, but I more remember being angry. I actually remember walking to school that day telling these kids from year 6 that it was a disgrace.

1995, is as far back as I can remember, maybe late 1994. I can remember liking Andy Cole and being angry when he was upset (as a 5 year old). My first match was April 95 (v Norwich, 3-0) I was a bigger PL sticker fan, from the 95 book, that probably helped, but didn't influence my choice.

I really don't believe that a Barca, ManU etc. fan would experience anything like the joy that we would at winning a cup.
-
It's quite depressing that we can't quite find a comparison as bad. "Athletico Madrid are probably the closest in Spain, though they did win the league/cup double in 96". "Schalke are definitely a good comparison, though they did win the UEFA in 97". "PSG compare if you leave the cup winners' cup"

One game you have missed and regretted it ever since
Superior Acuña replied to MyPalAl's topic in Football
The only game I think i've ever turned down and can really regret is QPR away in 95/96, 3-2. I was 6 and didn't want to travel that far. Obviously I wish I was at Feyernord, 5-0 ManU (I was 7 and me and my Liverpool-supporting mate shared the ticket), Inter away. Arsenal away 3-1, but being at Leeds a week later helped make up for it. EDIT: Also, Bobby's charity game. Would've gone, but I was in Singapore. -

I'd say the teams below them are too rubbish not to go down.

I think they'll definitely be fine even if they are atrocious. The league's so bad this season. Even think we'd have stayed up this season.

Coming Soon: A New Brochure From Michael Owen

Surely he should be making sure of a loan move today if he's any desire to play in a world cup again. -
You do. Don't believe there was a showing in Newcastle.

John Terry (England Captain!) has been 'playing away from home'
Superior Acuña replied to Ketsbaia's topic in Football
I'd take the captaincy off him. Of course it's private life and he shouldn't be dropped or anything, but being captain is about uniting the players and all that. That's not going to work when you've been having an affair with one of their girlfriends, or even Bridge's mates who'll think he's a dick. -
West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll
Superior Acuña replied to Pilko's topic in Football
He clearly has some ability but is so frustrating. Really useless today especially. Can win headers and hit them powerfully, but they won't go anywhere normally, and that's his best attribute. -
Looked pretty poor today. I dread the thought of a half decent premiership player running at him. So slow if anyone doesnt run in a straight line.
-
Just back. Thought we were very poor in first half and decent in second. Butt was appalling in the first and one of our best in the second. Carroll was useless as was Ranger when he came on. Willamson looked very dodgey, we were very easily run at. Routledge's delivery was often poor but he looked most likely to make things happen. RTaylor was very poor defensively, but by far the best player for crossing. Couldn't understand why Leicester fans were going on about having 10 men. They drew 0-0. At home. And I thought they wanted to get promoted?

Newcastle are the 3rd best supported team in Scotland

You see a fair few black and white shirts in Edinburgh train station on a saturday morning, but would be surprised if third. -
Do you think we will finish in the top 2? Yes or No
Superior Acuña replied to ChrisJbarnes's topic in Football
I'm nervous, but you've got to think we will. We're 8 points ahead of West Brom... -
Wayne Routledge signs 3 year deal with Swansea
Superior Acuña replied to clintdempsey's topic in Football
Yeah, I can see where you're coming from. I mean, just look at that Anelka, eh? Look at that Marcus Bent. Which just goes to prove that a player moving about a lot doesn't tell you anything about how good he is. It indicates some sort of issue normally. Not saying I'm not happy, but people seem really thrilled and I'd genuinely like to know why, because as far as I know he's never been that great anywhere since Palace, partly hence him moving a lot and ending up at QPR. -

Surprised everyone is so happy. Not that I'm unhappy or have really seen him. But the fact he's been about so much doesn't encourage me. -
Well done to him on this. Radio guy's Alan Partridge-esque. What a voice!

It was to both. The fans were booing them and Barry Ferguson was unpopular even before he stayed out drinking all night. It was pretty dissimilar. That was to their own fans, not a player from their rivals. Was it to their own fans? i thought it was to the cameras/media. I could well be wrong like It was to both. The fans were booing them and Barry Ferguson was unpopular even before he stayed out drinking all night. It was taken as being towards the fans anyway.
