  1. The ones who support Rafa are the deluded ones. Long may he stay there! Not really. He's done very well there, they came 2nd last season. They have a bad year, with Gerrard in rubbish form and 2 clubs around them spending loads, and no credible alternative has been offered. If they had someone lined up that was better than Rafa, it would maybe make sense, but they're not going to get a better manager.
  2. My best friend is a Liverpool fan and he's very grounded. He's very critical of Rafa-haters. And I don't believe we booed Bobby that season. For one, it wasn't for coming 5th, because we hadn't finished the season. There were 2 games left, and 4th was still possible. The team were booed for the Wolves performance, and Robert and Viana got special boos.
  3. I would say 10 to 20th, apart from Fulham, are rubbish. Maybe Birmingham will go crap again too. We wouldn't beat them easily though, because we're also rubbish. Think we have enough to stay up though.
  4. So? What's wrong with charity and the player benefitting?
  5. Shouldn't Given get one too? (and Harper)
  6. Is there any topic that the Daily Express's pure shitness does not pervade?
  7. Yeah, because for the last 15 years or whatever (that's how long i've been going, and only seen pitch invasions by mackems v us, never by us) we've expressed no emotion... It's not emotion trying to get on the pitch. On Saturday it wasn't even to get to the players cos they never came over, it was just to get on the pitch, to express that fundamental human emotion of standing on the outskirts of a pitch.
  8. They guy who got dragged off didn't deserve too, but he got pushed on by a bunch deliberately getting on. I was around them all, they ran straight for the pitch.
  9. We appear to have picked up a habit from the mackems in recent weeks of running onto the pitch when we score. It happened at Bristol, Doncaster and Peterborough. I nearly ended up on by accident yesterday cos of where I was standing. I find it a bit embarassing, personally. Seems to have suddenly become expected if we score away.
  10. 6 We're crap but I think the bottom of the league is terrible. We should come above the 2 that come up with us, and at least 1 of Hull/West Ham, Wigan, Bolton, Blackburn, Wolves.
  11. Didn't O'leary get them to 6th, only losing out to 5th (us) on GD on the last day, and only 4pts off 4th?
  12. long memories considering it goes back to the early (jobs) and mid (scabs) 80's. Fans of Chile, when they're playing Bolivia, chant "Let's go to the beach!", referring to a war which resulted in Chile taking Bolivia's only stretch of Pacific coastline -- in 1879! Passions ran very high during the miners' strike. I don't often get into fights, but I remember a conversation I had with a guy from Nottingham in a bar in Majorca quickly come to blows in summer 1985. Some Spaniards had to pull us apart. Valerenga brought a huge banner to St James's saying 'Lindisfarne 793, St James's 2004(?)'
  13. They sang 'You'll never got a job' to us in October, which really offended our lot. Led to many scab chants. Gutted I'm missing this
  14. Is the idea that taylor's a cunt just from the e-mail going around that he was a dick to Carroll in the jaw incident. He's never come across especially dickish to me.
  15. I think Souness was a manger who did poorly, and I'm more annoyed that he was appointed than at him personally. Ashley's been far more deceitful. And while going from CL to midtable is rubbish, that to relegation is much worse.
  16. Could see Shearer going if offered, given he chose them for the testimonial.
  17. I also hope it's Peterborough. I'm there and would be good in a little ground like that.
  18. All I heard relating to Carroll was 'There's only one Andy Carroll'.
  19. Thank god! My first away win since 2007 (Fulham). Thought the atmosphere was pretty good tonight too. Btw, the Colo song is nicked off Scotland for Cristian Dailly, right down to the curly hair line. Unless they stole it too.
  20. I thought Carroll had talent the first time I saw him, but became dissillusioned around xmas time. I had a rant about him at the start of the Cardiff game, then he hasn't stopped scoring. Has won me around, I think. Bit lazy at times though, and irratic. But can't argue with the recent goals and well taken tonight. Hope he can do it in the PL.
  21. Please god, let this be my first away win of the season/since 2007. I can't take anymore - we're top of the league, ive got to get an away win!
  22. That's rubbish. There's still a lot of discrimination. It's getting way better, but football clubs would be especially difficult to be openly gay in.
  23. He was on my bus a few times around 95-97 to away games. I was only ~6, he used to smile at me.
