It would be suicide for us to play any other way, we just aren't good enough. If we attack we just get picked off and lose our positioning and organisation fairly easily. If we press too high teams are just getting in behind us. We need a shit load invested in midfield to control games more and that can cover the ground

Our squad is horrific and he signed most of it, but he has done so because he has no other choice. He has been forced to ensure we have bodies and try to improve them which he has for quite a few, but so difficult when every player needs improving to average. We are good defensively but the front 4 players are shocking. Let's be honest if he leaves there really is no point in supporting this club, because if he isn't backed then who will be - McLaren or Pardew again

Watching games like this shows how far we have fallen. We are the worst team in this league. Just look at Bournemouth at times. Both teams at least look dangerous, we look toothless. Never thought I would prefer to watch these 2 play over any of our games

I think our managers experience will shine through again and we will finish mid table around 12th. A lot of turnover at some of those clubs and may not help them initially. I think Palace, Huddersfield, Cardiff, Bournemouth, Burnley, Southampton, Watford have maybe improved slightly but not massively. Jury out on Fulham, West Ham, Wolves and Brighton but expect West Ham to do the best out of them. We have improved from beginning of last season with Dubravka and Kenedy, Rondon improves us given the fact Mitro would never have played and probably better suited than Gayle to this league. Muto, Ki, Schar and Fernandes may be decent. All hinges on the players from last season retaining that consistency and hoping Muto, Rondon improves us.

We can play the balance sheet at left back, fucking arseholes in charge of this club. Well 10 more months loving Rafa before hating managers again.

That's just ridiculous, he's not even good. It does appear teams are spunking the cash for the sake of it. While I would love us to spend some cash, it would make me sick to spend that sort of cash on gash players.

If he was paying himself back this loan with intention of selling club at reduced rate I think I could accept whats going on, but you just know the 128 million TV money from last season plus net profit this year will be pocketed and loan will remain.

Weird. His touch was fine in the Championship, but s**** in the Prem? It was in that league because defenders have less quality. In this league his touch isn't good enough to get him into position to score and he gets closed down quicker.

That's Rafa's way though, he has worked with players through pre-season and will likely go with that, although I do expect Kenedy to start and maybe Rondon if he signs. Then Rondon gets injured for the season and we have nothing until Jan at least

I think he has put in a shift for us and just doesn't quite have it at this level. Has so.e great attributes but his touch and focus let him down. Hope he does well at West Brom

I was kinda making that point tbh My guess is the signings we've made so far don't want mental wages and the ones we're unable to get want the going rate. I'm not convinced it's all down to fees, still think Ashley is hung up on what happened with Allardyce. I can't think that far back. The list goes on The ridiculous thing is it's an impossible thing to avoid in football. All Ashley has done is spend 10 years doing the exact same thing only with younger players. Yep, and we’ll spunk it all on the Mark Nobles and Stephen Wards of the world They have really only given McLaren money, even Pardew was fucked over ( thank fuck ). This club would be more profitable if he let Rafa spend some cash as he would increase our position in this league and gain popularity abroad which can only help his brands.

I could see us in Sunderlands position in a few years when Rafa goes. I think we will go down this season despite everyone giving their all, we lack real quality it critical areas. Rafa has improved so many of the players but can only do so much when we are spending less than Championship teams.
