So cover wise Keeper Sels, Darlow, Woodman, Elliot Right Back Yedlin, Anita, Mbemba, *Hayden?, Gamez Left Back Dummet, Haidara, Lazaar, Clark, Gamez Centre Back Mbemba, Lascelles, Clark, Hanley, Dummet, *Hayden Right Mid Ritchie, Yedlin, Perez Left Mid Atsu, Aarons, Gouffran, Perez Centre Mid Shelvey, Hayden, Diame, *Tiote, Colback (lol) Forward Gayle, Mitro, Murphy, Perez, *Gouffran It does look pretty strong in terms of options for this level at least and a lot stronger/better balanced than last season. Ritchie, Diame, Shelvey, Hayden, Mbemba and Lascelles have to start as many as possible with one of Gayle/Mitro probably. Think we could have done with another centre midfielder but first choice is looking good and could see Rafa adjusting styles if we had to put others in the centre.

Seems a more balanced squad with multiple players for each position. Genuine wingers rather than Wijnaldum or Sissoko shunted wide. More functional centre midfield and greater options in defence. Fairly successful but still unsure of the quality of some players. Getting Gayle, Diame, Hayden and Ritchie was great business

I don't really give a toss about the tackle, I'd be more concerned that Pulis wants rid of a footballer that should be ideal for his type of football. If the challenge on Haidara was really an accident then he's obviously a clumsy c*** regardless of any other character flaws. Pulis hates any player that can't throw long, kick long or doesn't just defend. Would never base anything on his opinion of a player.

And we have no idea if we are any good / how decent the signings are. Will certainly be interesting if nothing else. Do we not? I don't think we can say for certain how good Gayle, Hayden, Hanley, Clark, Sels, Lazaar or Yedlin will be over the season. Promising starts for Gayle and Hayden and hopefully for Gayle not playing for Pardew may see him, improve and Rafa find a system for him. I haven't seen anywhere near enough of Hanley, Clark, Sels, Lazaar or Yedlin to form an opinion and Rafa may see something raw with them that he can coach and improve. Hayden, Gayle, Ritchie and Diame look the best signings so far but time will tell.

If square pegs means playing Perez on the left as opposed to the WBA winger then I'm all for it. Good to have some direct wingers though even if limited. The main objective at the moment is getting out of this league and building foundations. He wouldn't be my choice of winger but him and Atsu at least offer something different

They are blinded by bitterness. They think Rafa is a shit manager and we will be saddled with Championship players when promoted. We needed rebuilding and to build solid foundations. Our back 4 are all under 25 (with Yedlin). Hayden and Shelvey are premier league quality, Ritchie was decent at that level and jury out on the rest but what we will have for first time in a long time is energy, a tactical system and style and cover for all positions without resorting to square pegs.

We might sign some duds and will need to spend if promoted but I bet we are a better team than we have been in a long time when we go up. We actually have a competitive squad that play as a team with a British core. Yes quite a few will be poor if promoted but we needed to rebuild and have. We will have 4 wingers, good depth in defense and different options up front.
