  1. Easy on the eye but lacking a cutting edge and seems very light weight, i.e. the kind of player who despite his technical ability will never dominate games. The fact Huddlestone had more influence says a lot. It could of course be first season syndrome but honestly for the price they paid for him and for all the hype he seems remarkably ordinary in my opinion. I thought Corluka had an okay game for them.. I thought N'Zogbia ruined him quite often.
  2. It's also only recently that the defence has been played together consistently. At the beginning of the season Beye was injured, Bassong was backup, Enrique was injured/in and out, and only Colo has been there all the way through. Overall Colo has done his own job well since joining.
  3. No he wasn't he was pretty poor when he first joined. No he wasn't. He tried to play the ball a little bit too much but he wasn't poor by any stretch.
  4. I disagree. I think the purchase of Coloccini has been the most influential. Bringing in an Argentina international central defender for big bucks showed that we were willing to spend the money if the player was right for us. We needed an experienced head back there, and to have him in the shape of the relatively young quality player that he is has had more influence on the team imo. Coloccini's been very good since joining, and its between him and Bassong for player of the season so far. Hasn't missed a game, and knows what he's doing. Could still do better though mind. I agree with pretty much all of that, other than that if your going to mention contenders for player of the season, you can't not mention Shay Given as he's been outstanding this season.
  5. Dunno if this has been mentioned, but did anyone see this on MOTD last night? http://i36.tinypic.com/15not2f.gif
  6. again, you're referring to the 2 times it was obvious lennon had skinned enrique...he did him a lot more than 2 times in the game, he just didn't do anything with it once he'd beat him there's a difference - i don't think anyone can honestly say enrique had the edge in that confrontation yesterday I would say he did, even the commentators mentioned how frustrated Lennon was getting at Enrique shutting him out. Also, surely Lennon not doing anything with the ball on other occasions is due to the defender forcing his position? You can't take the ball off of the attacker every time, sometimes you need to track them and shut them out. That's the way I see it anyway.

    Mark Hughes

I really cant stand Hughes. I don't know who I'd actually want as our manager to be honest.
  8. MOTD made it look like Lennon had Enrique's pants down yesterday. Lee Dixon had clearly only seen those highlights as well but tried to make out he watched the whole game by saying Lennon was getting the better of him all game, when in fact Enrique had the legs on Lennon most of the time, bar one attack at the beginning and one at the end.
  9. oh christ. With atm being the operative word in that statement, is it really that unrealistic a statement? Yes. I don't think it is. I'm not saying that he is a better player that some of the top defenders in the league, but he is playing bloody well at the moment.

  11. Given - 7 Beye - 7 Enrique - 8 (Duff - 7) Coloccini - 7 Bassong - 8 Gutierrez - 7 N'Zogbia - 8 Butt - 8 Guthrie - 7 Owen - 6.5 Ameobi - 3 (Viduka - 6.5)
  12. I love seeing team spirit. I know its a bit of a dodgy celebration, albeit hilarious, but the players look genuinely happy to be playing with each other.
  13. Yep, a shame we lost our running clean sheets, though I don't think theres a lot the defence could have done about the goal.
  14. We actually have breathing space above relegation. chuffed as fuck!
  15. Fucking get in. I personally thought it was risky getting Enrique off and putting N'Zogbia at Left Back with Lennons pace, but credit to Kinnear its paid off.
  16. Could go either way this. Ameobi was terrible prior to going off.
  17. I really would love to see Man City go down, but like Spurs, I can't see it.

    Kieron Dyer

He didnt have a bad first touch or poor control. His biggest problem has always been his fitness, and his end product, which wasnt that bad in terms of setting up goals/moves, he just didnt want to shoot. Will be interesting to see if his pace is still in tact when hes fit.
  19. I don't see how it's giving someone a free pass just to give them time to settle in to both the pace and the physical side of the league. n'zogbia has had a free pass for the last couple of years with people offering every excuse under the sun for his whinging attitude. Even now his performances are very average and yet people are claiming he's doing so well. I think N'Zogbia has generally looked pretty decent when he's played this season. Not exactly setting the world alight but he's looked a threat most of the time when he's played. He's been better than last season. Pretty decent,eh? Exactly the point I'm making. Keep it up. N'zogbia has potential but nothing more and is worse now than his first season. And he'll be 23 by the end of the season so it's high time he started doing something other than an occasional cross rather than running up blind alleys. Hopefully he'll start paying us back against spurs but I'm not holding my breathe. Well, you read what you wanted to read there as it seems like you're implying I've said he's been brilliant this season, which I have not. I do think that he has looked a threat though when he's played, and looked better than he did last season. He's been particularly good at times at getting to the byline and cutting in on the defender. I agree with you though in that he hasn't bettered his first season for us.

As much as he was a bit of a twat, he was always my favourite player in his time with us.
